I’m really hoping there are healthy scratches tonight. Last game was bullshit and shouldn’t be tolerated
I really like how Yzerman moves on from players and he also seems to get something for nothing. Also i wonder if adding AHL defense depth means that the golden one is coming
Do we have the cap space to healthy scratch the whole team and let the Griffins play this one?
Our team dynamic is so odd and fragile. With everyone healthy, our four lines for offense complement each other so well. If one line is off for a night, another line picks up the slack. Our four lines are like a four-cylinder engine. Taking out our 1C and moving our 4C to 1C is like having a malfunctioning cylinder.
Sounded like Yonni Burgers will be in today. Fingers crossed. I like that guy.

So yes the Wings need to start winning, no the entire season isn’t lost. That being said I have felt like for a while that this team was on trajectory to make the playoffs and be a first round out. I obviously hope and want more, but looking at the lack of “star power” and our defensive corps, idk how this team could hope to beat some of the legit contenders over a 7 game series.
I think that Yzerman’s goal was to have this team make the playoffs to make the growing discontent go away, and then retool in the summer.
But he also has this windfall- according to the game day threads if the team doesn’t make it he can just point to “the patch” as the reason why the team lost instead of roster construction and the fans will eat it up and go review bomb the business on google instead of looking at this team closely for what it really is. /s

My hot garbage patch take: they purposely chose an offensive sponsor to be the first jersey patch so when they switch to Meijer or Belle Tire we don’t hate them for it. Fans will be less upset because “at least it’s not garbage.”

Not feeling great this morning. Taking a 90 minute train ride to go help my friend move, and I hit the Johnnie Black a little too hard after that third goal last night. I’ll probably be in zombie mode by the time this game starts.
Islanders found their strength when their season started slipping away. The Wings decided to double down and found new and exciting ways to lose.
The fans deserve playoffs the players not so much.
The California trip was a great rallying point and March is December all over again.

Really hoping Berggren can pull a Nyquist 2.0 and be a young undersized Swedish winger who had NHL experience but started the season in the AHL, but after a strong showing got called up, got hot and dragged the Wings to the playoffs. If it happened once it can happen again right?

Question! I’m going to the PWHL game in Detroit next week (hype). What are your thoughts on wearing a Red Wings jersey to the event? My gut says it’s fine and I won’t be the only one, but I wanted all y’all’s thoughts on it.

I really think if we can manage to still be in a WC spot when Larks comes back we’re in good shape. Florida/Boston/Toronto aren’t our battle IMO.
Not that the team has flaws but with him in the lineup they will win more.
