All have penalties/suspensions as well. It’s not like hockey like going to a fight. It has rules and you break a rule there’s a cost. If they gonna fight doing so in mutual combat safer then jumping a player.

Am I the only one that thinks fighting is kinda lame? Like when they agree to fight and then drop the gloves and circle and hug each other. I love when things get heated and chippy in the moment. But I really don’t like when the players decide to fight in the middle of the game. I don’t get a whole ton of enjoyment out of it. Anyone else?

For a while I thought fighting should go, and that it was a relic of a bygone era.
Then, I watched Ice Guardians, and I thought *oh, maybe it does have a place.*
Then, I watched some hockey *this season* with way too many cheap shots and the refs just not calling things that needed to be called.
And now, I’m of the opinion that fighting needs to stay.

If the refs could be bothered to call all the dirty shit that’s dangerous, maybe we could cut out fighting. As it stands, a dude could get beheaded mid ice, and they’d pretend like nothing is amiss, but don’t you dare be off sides.
As it stands, dropping gloves is a necessary evil for the game to remain safer…as weird as that sounds.

Hockey is not hockey without a fight. They help change momentum, and are usually to stick up for a key member being hit dirty.

It’s really the only sport where it makes sense because of the inherent violence of the game. Hockey players also revere the fight and what it represents and it’s rare to see on-ice battles spiral into off-ice incidents.
Basketball fights wouldn’t make sense as any and all violence is a foul already.
Baseball fights after someone gets beaned always turn into bench clearing hugfests which suck. Also it’s a largely nonviolent game unless you’re a catcher and even then it’s rare.
Football fights can’t work because there’s too many guys on the field to get involved and they’re all wearing space helmets.
Soccer fights I don’t know I don’t care about soccer I’m sure they’re having a lot of fun out there lmao
