  1. The only disappointment, at this time (unless the news changes), is that after all the hype and the process involved, they couldn't or didn't sign Kessel. But I'm SO glad this management team hasn't overpaid at the trade deadline this season. They've spent enough already to get this team to this level. If they can keep playing like they did last night, they're fine. They're still missing DJ and he is a key piece to that bottom six.

6:35 MAY have gotten better. Adding good players to a team doesn't mean that player will fit. But definitely keep an eye on the Dallas Stars..

  2. Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make. This team already made their moves far ahead of the deadline. There is a lot of risk with getting a player this close to the playoffs.

  3. Kessel has not played in a year and looks overweight. Smart not to sign him at Costco across Roger's Arena.

  4. Someone buy Dereck an adult’s shirt and a haircut, or get him to the hackey sack game he’s missing? 😂

  5. Never trust the Microsoft Bing Copilot AI, this is the nonsense it generated on screen when I keyed "Canucks trades" into the search bar Friday morning:

Canucks acquire Guentzel, Myers and Dzingel at NHL trade deadline.

    Key takeaways:

The Vancouver Canucks were buyers at the NHL trade deadline, acquiring forward Jake Guentzel from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a first-round pick and two prospects.

Guentzel is expected to provide an immediate boost to the Canucks’ top-six forward group, which has struggled to score goals this season.

The Canucks also traded defenseman Tyler Myers to the Buffalo Sabres for a second-round pick and a prospect, and acquired forward Ryan Dzingel from the Ottawa Senators for a third-round pick.

  6. Happy Canucks didn’t sell the farm for this playoff run, but they should have done something more. Make a hockey trade like moving one player under contract for another. Get a depth winger with some grit ffs. You didn’t have to sell your future to accomplish that.
