  1. Honestly? Good.

I saw Phil Kessel at the Costco in Surrey yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the concession with like fifteen hot dogs in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the weiners and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word.

After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Making me nostalgic for the good old Hamhuis/Vrbata deadline day

  3. stratinal

LOL fuck, west got so much stronger today too.

  4. JTMilleriswortha1st

Lame but we got our big rental earlier

  5. Giraffe-kit

Great… should I still get the away Kessel jersey… mustard stains at my own expense… it will happen.

Some times when you cook, you just gotta let things simmer a bit. Trust chef Allvin

  7. _pavlovsdawg

Just fell to my knees in a Costco food court

Guys screaming about Kessel, go check out some of the Abby practice videos. He was GASSED. He likely didn’t do much working out since end of last season. You can’t just catch up to the game in 2 weeks after 6-7 months off. Good guy, but we dodged one.

  9. MoodyJ87

This is fine, honestly glad we didn’t give up more prospect depth

  10. ebb_omega

Literally got the best centre and defensive rentals in the league, but somehow this is a disappointment?

  11. What do you mean done for the day? They haven’t even started.

  12. DownInAho

Why are people so upset about this? Is it just cause the Canucks didn’t make any deadline moves? I feel like they are fine without a 36 year old who hasn’t even played this year

  13. marcosbowser

Let’s go! I was excited for trades too but this shows that management has enough confidence in the group to not trade away the future or mess up the team chemistry. It also means they are more interested in a longer window that just an 11.2% chance of winning the Cup this year. I’m all for it. Go Canucks.

  14. tydiggityy

At least this means we can bring podz back up for the playoffs and don’t lose any of our other guys to waivers 🤷

  15. Overclocked11

    I’m fine with this.

We have a top 3 team in the league, we’re healthy, and made our moves earlier on.

Feel like we sacrificed all we were comfortable with for Zadorov, Lindholm, and Kessle was never a shoe in.

lets see what this team can do!

  16. Swimming_Departure18

Perfect. We kept our 2025 1st and all of our remaining prospects. See what the team can do in the playoffs and retweak for next season. Use the 2025 first if we go on a big run and prove ourselves. Burning 2x1st and getting a 1st round exit would be incredibly lame.

  17. Born-Drawer-4451

WTF YALL SAID IT WAS A LOCK I ORDERED THE JERSEY ALREADY

  18. metrichustle

Canucks made all their trades in-season. Prior to this week, Canucks were involved in 1/3 of all trades in the NHL. How much change do you guys need? We’re 1st in the Division and we just got the biggest UFA C a month ago. We’re good. No need to panic. We don’t need Toffoli, Zucker, Greenway, or even Guentzel.

  19. NorthernMariner

Why did Pod get sent down today then??

  20. Mikeywestside

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

  21. Charlie2343

Myers should’ve sat out until the playoffs so we could load up

  22. VanIsleRyan

Makes sense, most of our guys are doing great and makes no sense to add if we need to remove one or two. Also glad we held onto our high end prospects. We may not win it all this year but our window is open and it feels good.

  23. The Podkolzin zap was unexpected imo. Management probably liked his game so much we didn’t feel like we need to shop for that extra winger. Lindholm only gets better from here and Souce reinforced the back end. With joshua back soon, why give up more futures to mess with the chemistry. We’re a good fkn team. Ready for the playoffs

  24. PetterssonsNeck

We got two of the biggest pieces of trade bait this year not named Guentzel, guys. Just because it didn’t happen on March 8 doesn’t make it disappointing by any means.

  25. Spookedchicken

Only disappointed that Kessel wasn’t signed as an insurance policy of sorts. If the bigger moves weren’t there for us to make without overpaying since we likely needed big salary retentions then so be it. Tough and annoyed to see VGK make all these ridiculous moves for what look like pennies on the dollar though.

  26. CapnPositivity

Am annoyed but at the same time these teams are going to be fucked next year trying to sign all of these clowns.

Positioning ourselves for the summer without wasting assets on guys we aren’t 100% on is ok. Better for it

We crushed Vegas last night despite the fancy additions they made too.

  27. manicdragon

Kessel was fun for the memes, but this was what I expected from the beginning. A 36 yr old dude who hasn’t played in a year isn’t going to suddenly jump into NHL shape and make a difference, no matter how skilled he is.

  28. airjunkie

We made 2 key moves early. I prefer that to deadline chasing. I wouldn’t have minded one more cheap piece (e.g. Zucker) but our cap situation made that type of move too costly. I’m fine with how it paned out.

  29. Frederick_C_Krueger

Lol 650 caller just said he was willing to give up hoglander for toffolli and Bik just gave him akward silence and ended the call.
