How a ‘Bust’ Is Dominating the NHL

Jack Hughes is now one of the best players in the world, but it hasn’t always been that way. After his rookie season, Hughes was called a bust. Now look at him.

  1. Despite injuries, he is becoming an effective player. I recall since 2019 where Ranger fans were calling Jack a "bust" compared to Kaapo Kakko, and those two went opposite directions towards the end of the 22-23 season. The man is no longer Jack, he is Chad Hughes.

  2. Not a knock on Jack, but you can see he didnt even finish going through puberty when he entered the league, of course hes gonna get much better as he becomes a man playing against men. Dude is crushing it this year

  3. Hughes Sr. even mentioned in hindsight Jack should have went the college route even if just one year. He said it was Jack choice. Did anyone expect a boy at 17, with tons of confidence he would not want to want to play in NHL. Even though greatly undersized it has not hurt his development. He just missed out playing playing at Michigan, missed out playing worlds with his NDTP buddies and maybe a gold. If he can stay healthy he can be a top 5 points guy in his prime

  4. Im a rangers fan & can confidently say nobody thought this kid was a bust. The only people that think that dont understand the sport. It takes years to find your game at the NHL level

  5. Hughes can't skate from here to there without breaking. He's talented as hell but he's made of glass, unfortunately.

  6. I don’t think the guys body is going to hold up with how he plays. Once a week he does some weird self inflicted fall idk his game just isn’t going to hold up unfortunately

  7. I’m a rangers fan and the same thing happened with Laffy people gave up on him and he turned out great and played up to his potential
