I know this sub is divided on Ty, but I am not. He was a highlight of this dark season for me. I got to witness him score his first hat trick as a Devil in Montreal. I threw my hat and was the lone hat guy that Bill called out on air. Because of that special interaction, I went out and bought one of his game worn jerseys. I’ll have this framed shortly and will always remember the offensive vulture that Toff was on this team! Thanks Tyler, sucks that it was such a short run but good luck in Winnipeg!

My stadium series Toffoli authentic arrives today. This is a dark day to be a devils fan. No goalie. No first round pick. We send away one of our best players for peanuts. We basically gave away Yegor for free now. 2nd and 3rd round pick from a playoff team isn’t going to get us shit.

Dumb fucking move to trade him off for a 2nd and a 3rd. Should have just extended him with a smartly structured contract to cover the long term risk. The cost of replacing what he offered us is way higher than what we got in return or what we will be able to afford in the off-season. The picks we got out of this aren’t going to get us a better netminder in their own, and next years team will only be farther from competing than this year’s was.

I am so confused about this trade. Why didn’t we just keep Sharangovich?
Despite our needs, I will never back having to trade Toffoli to get it. You don’t trade your leading scorer unless it’s an epic earth-shattering deal. Certainly not for “draft picks”, or an AHL player or, “further considerations”… or stuff like that

I’m so fucking pissed we traded him for picks. Not even first round picks. We should have tried to keep him. All this after Fitz said last week “trading our top goal scorer is admitting to defeat, we are committed to keeping him”. At somepoint we need to stop collecting prospects and build a team that can compete. This emphasis on prospect development is what has our defense in shambles this year.
