Francis didn’t commit to keeping Wright with the Firebirds for the rest of the season so he might get some NHL games towards the end of the season, but Coachella Valley is set to make the playoffs.
Doesn’t burn a year on his ELC and gives him and the Firebirds all the runway to prep for another playoff run. I’d love to see him with the Kraken this season, but I do think this is smarter long-term!

McCann did pretty well as 2C the last two games, so that buys them some time. Wright is learning to be a top C in CV, and keeping him on the farm all season has always seemed like the smarter play.
I’ve really liked how we’ve looked with McCann at 2C and on the kill. Obviously, that will change when Wright does eventually come into the fold, but for now, we’re winning games.
Love this. Let Wright finish the season with the Firebirds, lets him build up go through the AHL playoffs. Next year he can start with the Kraken.
How many games does he have left before burning a year of his ELC? I wouldn’t mind seeing him at least play his max number of games in that regard.

He would be so much better next year if he got to play out the rest of this year in the NHL.
After all of the instability Wright has had for the past few years it’s definitely a good plan to keep him in one spot for a bit. Next year will come in due time.
So happy I’ll be able to watch Shane this season in CV before he gets called up next year.
And hopefully the Firkus Circus comes to town next year!
