In this press conference, Colorado Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland discusses the recent NHL trade deadline moves involving Casey Mittelstadt from the Buffalo Sabers and Sean Walker from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Ryan Johansen, Bo Byram, and a first-round pick. 1. ha ha, noticed how he somewhat dodged that question on doubling down on johansen by talking about byram. he wont say it but he knows johansen is cooked and was a horrid acquisition. torts didnt want him on his roster 😂

  2. Byrams next deal will be 6/7 mil wouldnt have fit in the cap anyways. chance here if casey does well he can sign a longer deal at a lower number. walker will be great in the avs system. landy could come back and holy shit this group is a wagon

  3. I wasnt gonna get my hopes up,& time will tell…tough to lose Bo,& his superstar potential. But as many have said-we definitely filled our greatest need-with our greatest strength-then filled what we lost with another dman who doesnt have the youth or ceiling of Bo-but right now/today is a better, more experienced,& consistent player,& should fit the bottom 4 role on a contender a bit better right now/today.

I expect Bo will eventually be the best player in either trade if he stays healthy,& he will get more opportunity in Buffalo. I see win/win for both teams-as these teams are in totally different stages,& have different short,& long term goals. I think both teams get exactly what they need-Avs are now much better equipped for a run now-Buffalo can afford to be patient with Bo.

Id love to see a veteran #2 goalie or whatever else they think-you can always get better. But if they do nothing else-Im ecstatic & give them an A+ in my opinion.Ya gotta factor in Parise also on the deadline grade-another win.We probably got slightly better on defense-already the NHLs best-albeit with a lil lower long term ceiling-& also massively improved our only glaring weakness…plus got a lil more cap space today. And its only Wed fam-but anything else they pleasantly surprise me with is gravy.
