Is right now guys are buying in those are the things you haven’t heard about this team in the last seven years and I started to see that build for basically the last 10 to 12ish probably games o that we’ve seen out of this team and it
Just felt like there was no push back from this team tonight this leag team it it felt like it started to disappear where you’re watching these guys out on the ice and you didn’t show up on time that’s problem number one for me I just never understand how you can be an NHL
Team and you know what mind you myself especially I watch it 82 games of the Season I’m sure most of you guys in the chat watch them 82 games of the year as well but so they’re under a microscope to us but it feels like this team more
Than anyone around the NHL struggles to show up from the drop of the Puck you are professional athletes making millions of dollars how the are you not ready to go off the opening draw and I’m not talking about did they find a way back into the game or not or
Whatever I’m talking about the fact that 20 seconds into the game the Bruins are on a breakaway challenging Joseph wall how is this a thing yeah you’re going to make mistakes and it happens every now and then I can get by that I can I can
Excuse that I can be okay with it what I can’t be okay with is this happening what feels like basically every every single game for this team now that started to kind of disappear over the last 10 to 12 games you start to feel like maybe these are different guys
Maybe this is a different situation and then all of a sudden here tonight in a rivalry game mind you when you’re coming in 9 and one and this Bruins team has been struggling over their last 10 32 and five for Boston analytically falling off a cliff results
Falling off a cliff now it this is not a team that’s going to fall off fall out of the playoff race but guess what they started to come back down to earth you’re sitting here on home ICE home ICE couple days of rest you sat here waiting
For the Bruins to come to town you’re looking over there you got Joseph W back you got Samson off absolutely rocking labush kin’s fine to play You’re approaching the trade denline 4 days away here now and you show up and you lay a egg to start this
Game just not present those are the ones that are mindboggling to me because these are the most important ones yeah hey it happens on a Thursday night in Carolina where you just don’t show up and all of a sudden they take advantage of you early or or it happens against
Anaheim at 10 pm on a Tuesday and and whoops you’re behind the eightball and like we’re going to fight our way back this is the Boston Bruins you’ve now lost six games to this team you’ve already 0 and two against them this season and you’re just going to continue
To drop points like this to them this is a pretty pathetic way to show up against a team that’s supposed to be one of your biggest rivals this is a pretty pathetic effort to put in in a spot where you can be climbing back into the standings
Whether you think home I matters or not you’d rather have it if you if you have the choice home ice or on the road I’m sure these guys professional athletes are going to sit there and say you know what I’d probably actually rather be at home or have that opportunity I mean
Maybe I’m an idiot maybe I’m wrong but it feels like that’s the most comfortable situation and what you would rather have you you don’t want your own building behind you to start off a series or if it gets the game seven to be there sitting with you getting fired
Up being behind you rallying behind you I’m sure every single one of them will take that and yet you have an opportunity to start climbing back and start to try to gain ground on a te on a team that’s slowly been coming back towards you over the last little while
And you go out there head-to-head in a four-point night and you just don’t show up you just don’t show up now look I’m not going to sit here and just make straight up proclamations of what this team will be for the remainder of the season because maybe this is a blip
Maybe this happened one time and next game they’re going to be fine next game against Buffalo when they they’ve got to respond after getting embarrassed by them earlier this season they’re going to show up and they’re going to say we’re here you come out the gates
Running you come out ready to go maybe then on Thursday against Boston again you come up in Boston there and you come out the gates ready to go again but this F felt like the old leavs this felt like the team that shows up sometimes doesn’t show up sometimes gets
Behind the eightball five minutes left in the third period they put on a crazy push score a goal maybe score two goals you make it a one-goal game now and you walk away and say ah it was 43 I’m happy that they made it a game at the
End where the hell were they for the other 55 that’s a frustration for me here uh and kind of what went on in this game there are some more specific points I’m going to get on uh in terms of what went wrong here because there are some very specific things um Timothy
Lren didn’t have himself that great of a night here uh we we’ll dig into that we’ll dig into the Joseph Wall play we’ll dig into kind of what seemed like a disappearance of Matthews Marner and neander for a decent chunk of tonight’s game I don’t think that they played
Awful but my point being when you’re going to look at those guys who are bigname guys who are making 10 11 $13 million against your salary cap I don’t want to have to sit here and have the conversation about oh I didn’t notice that guy tonight like I listened

It it just wasn’t there from the jump I I don’t know that it’s a detailing issue from him for the power play Michael the one thing that I have kind of thought about as well with this team is what happens when they get to the playoffs every year one thing that has
Gone missing on a consistent basis is the execution on the power play one thing that’s consistently gone away is their ability to take advantage of odd man’s situations and if you can’t can’t do that in the regular season yeah it stings you’re going to lose this game here against Boston where you’re not
Able to capitalize on these power plays that you get which is a really strong five on five team where it’s really tough to Score simony says earlier in the show you know Bruins defensive Clinic I think he’s pretty much on on I think he’s pretty pretty right there in that
Statement so where are you going to find your opportunities well when you have one more guy on the ice than the other team and you have a guy on your team who scored 70 goals you’ve got William neander who’s going to score who scored 40 he’s going to score 40 again you’ve
Got Mitch Marner who could put up 100 points when you’ve got these guys out on the ice and you have one more player than them you should be able to take advantage of these opportunities instead we see them struggle to enter the Zone struggle to maintain possession and then
When they get to the offensive zone and I’m some of this I’m going to have to exclude that late third period because they did seem to be snapping it around a little bit more but throughout the beginning of the game it’s like overpassing or or just not having that
Awareness of where is someone on the other team at a given moment to have a pass broken up because Boston was in the right spots at the right time they were basically holding the leavs to the outside not giving them these high danger opportunities and they were well
Aware of who the best scorers on this Leafs team were so they’re able to mitigate those opportunities against even in those situations this to me started to feel a lot more I know I was joking about the texts I get from Mr Phillips and I know
I’m kind of joking about the tech the Super Chat there from Max about Leaf showing up for game one of the playoffs like this is felt like Leaf showing up for playoffs but at the same time the way some of this the execution and the effort happened it did feel like that
And I sat here watching that that power play going this is what happens every year in the playoffs yeah you found a way through it last year against Tampa but I mean against Florida hard to score at five on five you were struggling to put thing pucks past bosski you got to
Take advantage when you get those power plays just didn’t here tonight and that that is that that like to me that’s going to be frustrating if it doesn’t happen once or it doesn’t happen twice it is what it is but when it starts to become a consistent theme and you’re
You’re looking going how the hell are we not scoring yeah that’s a good team there in Boston that’s going to be able to shut you down on the penalty kill but if you’re going to be as good as you say you are if you’re going to be this highflying offensive

With him and and what started to go on was he started taking those four or five game spans where he would go missing and he started cutting it down okay now it was two three games and now I feel like we’re kind of at this point where with
Neander it gets to it gets to one and maybe it gets to two and then that’s kind of the extent of his disappearances now we’re even into this stretch where he has incredible shifts here tonight or or a really good period whatever it is and then yeah he goes disappearing for
Another couple of shifts or he has a really bad moment where in the second period 8 minutes in the Leafs dominate the offensive zone for 45 seconds generate a bunch of bunch of chances the puck rims around the boards neander is staring at the puck he’s the first man
In the zone to be able to get across and be able to get there and get to that Puck and he pulls up and as he’s taking strides towards the puck he sees two Bruins defense or two Bruins players one defenseman one forward converging into
The space that he’s about to go to to get that Puck and he looks and he makes his business decision and says it not for me that pisses me off no but William naner is also top five in the NHL in scoring he’s the fastest

There and get that’s a top four defenseman right now that’s like let me reward that what what defenseman are you going to get that’s guaranteed going to make a difference in your top four I think that’s a better way to put it because yeah you could go out there and you
Could get a guy who’s in a top four somewhere or who’s being paid like a top four defenseman or that you look at and think hey maybe that guy could fit alongside Morgan Riley but the conversation continues to be out of top four out of top four out of top

Work for that line because they can be a Workhorse line on top of that it’s hard for other teams to kind of have to match against those top three lines and for one of the first times in a long time for me with these with this team it
Feels like you’re starting to Trend into a direction where each each guy or each line has this I don’t know if identity is the right word but like they’ve got their own operation where the first line is a line that can outscore you like crazy
The second line has a little bit of grit on it but they’re also the William neander line that’s going to score at any given moment and Max doy is a Inc incredible playmaker then you go on to the third line and going to get this responsible line that wins draws
They can go out into the into the defensive Zone and break out and get transition up ice they can maintain offensive zone time you got a couple guys who can play on the penalty kill you got a couple guys who can play on the power play in each of these lines
You’re able to spread things out and then the fourth line is basically like get out there put the pressure on them hit them hard put a four check in and get us out of these games like get us out of your shifts if you have to go out
There and defend people you got to go out there and defend people but each of them just has their own role and they’ve adapted to it well that JT line I think right now I think that they are finding their their Rhythm and I think that
They’re kind of starting to get to a point where we can trust them and that to me is pretty important JT scoring five on five just it’s just cherry on top right you take him off the power play I still agree with it I mean I know we saw Keef
At a moment here tonight changed things up he went back to JT uh on on that line for a little bit took berzi off I feel like at that point it was maybe just a little bit of just change things up for the sake of it I was worried it was

You got you had two games in hand going into this game obviously you’re still going to have two games in hand cuz you just played them but you had an opportunity to make up a little bit ground here on this game get some points back get even closer to them try to inch
Them out or inch up and knock them out of that second spot in the division and you show up and you lay an egg at home like I I just it it just felt and again maybe I’m a little bit too optimistic here tonight because I’m fired up about being on this
Channel and starting this and having this debut and as we go forward maybe I’m just going to become Negative Nancy and people are going to get pissed off again if it is that that’s the case then that’s the case but I I think a c I think just C like it’s just
Like there was some push back at the end Matthews Marner and eler weren’t terrible but like well well actually there was some really bad moments from Willie the couple but it was just like a you kind of went ghost on it a little bit you had some opportunities nice had
Some good chances I never felt dominated but I never felt like the Leafs really were going to take it to Boston the other way this just felt like the most Jimmy VC vanilla game possible and it felt like you kind of blew one here but I look at a couple
Specific mistakes and say that was it you didn’t get pumped you didn’t get dominated but you know you you don’t collapse in your in your slot and on the penalty kill and give up a wide openen shot from point blank there’s a goal off the board you
Find a way to bury at the other end Rush doesn’t come back down your way and Boston doesn’t score on a Morgan geeky goal you find a way to stand up to them in the neutral zone and as they cross over the blue line Timothy lilligren gets in front of a
Puck instead of in front of Joseph Wall’s eyes and it’s a different game like there’s little things along the way that I keep looking at it thinking about in my head I’m like it’s just a specific incident that led to some of these results and that kind of led us to here
But yeah uh I don’t know a see like it’s just I I probably could be harder on it I’m just kind of out to see I don’t I don’t think that this is a great game think that’s going to do it for me here tonight um went through all the

There was no fight in that dog tonight. I saw a Leafs team that just laid down and handed the Bruins the game in the first period. Lack of effort was the theme of this game tonight.
💯 just a lazy showing. The pp was garbage! Zone entries predictable. 44 and that awful flick straight at the goalie.he always does this.. and on a freakin pp! Send the puck to someone that can do something with it. 37 and 88 led the lack of effort department. Frustrating after some great games they have had
The trends I saw in this game:
1) Leaf players chasing people around instead of defending their zones during the first period.
-Rielly chasing a guy going towards Lyubushkin, leaving the area he should have been covering wide open for the first goal.
-Willy chasing a guy going towards where Lilly is, leaving the point man wide open for the second goal (Jarnkrok caught puck watching was infuriating, too).
2) Leaf players trying to pass the puck through defenders throughout the game (it's like they didn't learn anything from the Vegas game).
3) Leaf players not finishing checks but opting for love taps that barely count as a hit (Marner had three hits this game. I have not noticed any of them, did you?).
4) A predictable PP: Find Matthews for the first 30 seconds; try to rush something different instead of tiring out the other team for a high-chance play; give 20 or so garbage seconds to the second unit.
5) Extremely weak net-front presence with no option on the opposite side of the net of the shooter for the easy tap-ins (effectively letting the goalie know that the shooter is his only threat).
6) The third and the fourth lines were the only ones winning the board battles and going tit-for-tat physically.
Big time choke again against the bruins

Spring (playoff) golf season is starting up – so maybe that explains how the Leaf Core 4 disappeared.
