3rd time in 4 years for them? I mean I understand shit happens but Martinez played nearly 18 minutes the other night and now suddenly can’t play the rest of the season? Gee not suspicious at all./s

Not with that sweet, sweet Vegas money coming in.
DJ_Necrophilia
Honestly, if a player is on LTIR at the deadline then they ought to be ineligible to play until next season
GuardianUFO
The NHL is sadly becoming more and more corrupt. Disingenuous stuff like this is ruining the game.
Max_Q_
I hope they shit the bed and miss the playoffs.
Canadian_mk11
Hey man, they’re called Golden Children for a reason. Lay off of them!

Welcome to professional hockey. If youâre not greasy on or off the ice youâre not winning.
âŠand that is the intended design.

This isnât a Vegas problem in particular. Idk why youâre all complaining about them specifically.
CurlingTrousers
Without a wisp of irony or shame – the Oilers should put Cody Ceci on LTIR forâŠ.oh, I dunnoâŠchronic diarrhea and reallocate his cap space.
Which is precisely what Vegas keep doing. Identify a high cap hit player they can do without for a while, give him an in season vacation and exceed the cap until the playoffs, and then get the band back together magically.
Itâs a fucking joke that stopped being funny two Mark Stones ago.

GMs were fine with this rule in play at one of the recent GM meetings. They all know it exists and they all have the ability to do it
GeistHunt
Honestly, it should be a rule that once a player is on the LTIR and the team gets cap relief then said player can’t play in the off season. That’ll stop teams from putting their best players on the LTIR for this stuff.
Mark Stone literally had 6-8 weeks, what about that is long term? Meanwhile Kirby Dach gets a season ending injury in his second game but doesn’t? Everything about this is ridiculous.
SkarTisu
If itâs good enough for Tampa, itâs good enough for Vegas
GrizzlyIsland22
To get cap relief from LTIR players, a random selection of doctors from other teams should have to confirm the diagnosis, and the test results, xrays, etc, should have to be available to all teams.
Brando6677
Teams tried to get the loophole amended but the majority said keep it. Just pray your team takes advantage too đ€·ââïž

They won’t ever change it because GMs love that little shit trick
Sarge1387
Wait until Edmonton, Vancouver, or Toronto do it. Theyâll put a stop to it PDQ
That_Smoke8260
Easy solution is to get rid of the stupid salary cap let teams spend if there a big market team why should good teams have to be the same as small teams pre cap was good hockey
Numbness007
EVERYBODY BLAME CHICAGO BACK IN 2015 They’re the ones that started it, then the lightning did it, everybody thinks they started it, but they learned from losing to the Blackhawks in the Stanley cup final. And now everyone’s going to do it until it gets banned, but I don’t think the league feels like doing anything about it cuz it’s making them money.
elkenwonderland
This is how the Patriots won 3 Super Bowls in 5 years.
AnonPlzzzzzz
Pretty simple fix: The 20 players you put on the ice for a game is what has to be cap compliant, not your overall roster. And that would include the playoffs, too.
Knights_When
IR and LTIR are different things but who cares about sense and logic because âgold team badâ right?
KittiesAreTooCute
Instead of complaining about Vegas doing this, complain that your team isn’t.
Cashmere306
What a bizarre rule, there’s no other league that does this. Just get rid of it already.

They need their little pet projects to keep being successful… Betty will sacrifice all northern teams to the God’s before he does anything to harm the south…
