Every possible Guentzel buyer is slowly adding cheaper pieces elsewhere. We dont *need* Guentzel, since we can easily pick up some depth and just run Lindholm as our rental. The Penguins leverage drops by the minute, as this ‘sellers market’ dries up

Pittsburgh is the one with the expiring asset, either they hope someone else will pay up or they’ll have to come down to what we (or another team) is asking. He’s not going to sign in Pittsburgh again in the off-season from the sounds of it, so they have to get something for him rather than lose him for nothing.
So Dubas will be a jack ass and lose him in the summer for NOTHING… Pittsburgh doesn’t have a hope in hel with him as G.M.

It seems that Kyle Dubas has put himself in a corner. He asked for too much, and now teams are backing off. Vegas and Edmonton are no longer in the running for Jake Guentzel. Either Kyle Dubas has to lower his ask or run the risk of losing Jake Guentzel for nothing in free agency.
I wonder if Dubas price is the same as Corvette guys selling price because he knows what hes got.

Dubas has made some pretty good trades but in the last few years his trades near the deadline damn near all of them have been awful or insignificant. So I’m sure he’ll screw up the guentzel trade somehow

Maybe this is bad take, but I’m happy this isn’t happening. I don’t think they need Guentzel, rather they keep boys like Pod. Really don’t want them throwing assets away, although yes I understand the brutal choices need to chase a cup.
I’m assuming that the Pens probably wanted one or both of Willander and Lekkerimaki and they wouldn’t do it. I think that’s good, Vegas and Colorado have loaded up and giving up our only two blue chip prospects on a risky Cup gamble would be a terrible long term move.

This is a relief to read. Trader Jim with the country gambling trigger finger is SO MUCH FUN, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t super fucking nervous about how much we would pay to get our guy. Thankful that there’s a limit 🙏
