  1. I'm not a real "break the unwritten rules of the game you eat a stick" guy, but it's definitely a thing. Morgan Rielly deserves and will get a suspension, but taking a slap shot into an empty net from two feet out with 5 seconds left is definitely in the unwritten rule book. If Tkachuck had taken that slap shot into the empty net his gloves would have been on the ice and his fists would be up before Rielly got close enough to land a cross check.

  2. A famous coach said I can defend the Senators winning, can’t defend Toronto losing. Play better Toronto and this won’t happen.

  3. If an NBA Player does a 360 degree dunk on a breakaway with 5 seconds to go in a 3 point game, he does not get a forearm shiver to the head and slammed into the bleachers.

When Kirk Gibson of the LA Dodgers hit a walk-off HR to win a World Series game and "pumped" his way and "Cadillac-ed" around the bases he did not get mugged by the A's.

Facts are Facts…Rielly's act was Criminal….Leafs are Lame and obvious Sore Losers!

  4. Pretty poor take Shannon. You don't do that shit. Any team would have acted the same way. Reilly got the stick up too high, that sens player deserved something.

  5. Yeah dumb play by Riley, should get a game. I was surprised at leafs reaction

Chalk it up to frustration at their own play

  6. The rare "boom boom geoffrion" name drop. A fight should of broke out after the slap shot not an intent to injure . Why fight when you can use your stick , the leafs core to a T

  7. The interesting thing about Rielly is that this reveals there's a way he's comfortable with having an empty netter scored on his team. Idk Morgan, you should be that pissed everytime that happens and not at the player scoring but your team for putting you in that situation and then getting beaten up a man down the ice. And of course, for losing to a terrible team that owns the leafs this year. If Greig is so wide open on an empty netter with 6 Leafs skaters on the ice that he has time to slow down, look around, and hit a slap shot into the net, you have failed as a team. Get in that locker room and scream at your teammates to get up for the game and win it, not cheap shotting a guy with your stick because he hurt your feelings.

  8. Thanks, Shannon! For the impending Super Bowl Sunday hockey extras. 🙃🥅🏒💥

A longtime NFL fan myself..but it’s been decades since I watch SB with much interest. A spectacle. There have been years when games are so fragmented by bad breaks game has no discernible narrative.

  9. Score till the horn sounds. Get over it. And the Toronto radio team was scary apologetic laughing it up. Pretty stupid. Doesn't Joe realize his voice is amplified? Tone it down.

  10. Uhhhh Grieg was right infront of the net with all kinds of space. If he feathered it, it’s still going in. No way he was gonna miss from there. The clapper was unnecessary. I don’t agree with what Reilly did either. Weird explanation, dude…..

  11. Rielly felt like a MLB pitcher throwing at a batter because the batter looked at the moonshot homer he just hit. I agree with you, if you don't like it, don't be in the position where that could happen

  12. The difference is Greig didn't have to blast it into the empty net. He was a few feet from the goal. There was no defender between him and the net. He clearly did it to send a message, and the Leafs responded. Reilly deserves a suspension for sure, but you can't let that level of disrespect slide.

  13. im sort of mixed on the Reilly hit

on the one hand (with all due respect, and i mean that I really respect your channel)

u gotta call a spade a spade, that slapshot 3 feet from an empty net by a PROFESSIONAL hockey player with 10 seconds left in the SERIES when they had already won 3/4 games against a rival , was not him "playing it safe" he was just rubbing it in in a rather classless way, and the Leafs had to respond (maybe if he had done that on the FIRST game it wouldn't be this egregious)

there is a reason his own captain barely said anything about it in the post interview (what he did here was the equivalent of taking a dump on their jersey in their locker room right in front of them after they had ALREADY WON )

and what makes it worse is that he was just casually skating away when even former nhl players said "you should be ready for a fight after that",

all teams have this attitude towards the leafs that they're too (soft, or spoiled or rational) to ever do anything about stuff like that, they have little to no pride in their jersey, so other teams never fear pushing the leafs too far, hence why the Panthers have no problem in giving a leafs player a concussion during a playoff game

because they know the leafs are too (soft, or spoiled or rational) to ever do anything about it, showing that the leafs can actually lose their cool and do something like that might make other teams think twice for once

does anyone here think the Leafs would have pulled a stunt like that on Ottawa? no because they know that Ottawa has a lot of pride in themselves when it comes to playing the leafs and probably would have responded even more harshly

now that being said he does deserve to get suspended for at least 5 games, and none of this would have happened if the Leafs actually showed up against the Senators

theres absolutely zero reason a team with (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Reilly) shouldn't stomp one of the worst teams in the entire league in almost every match up

as opposed to what we got which was 3 losses and 1 win that required the Goalie to stand on his head and take a months long injury

does anyone here think Ottawa would ever lose to the leafs if they had a skill disparity like that? no they'd have destroyed them at every opportunity

  14. It's also legal to shoot the puck into the net after a whistle… it's also legal to snow the goalie, etc… doesn't mean it wasn't a d-bag move and deserved a shot to the head… Greig was completely fine so I don't see the big deal. If he were hurt than I could see all the uproar but leaf haters be leaf haters I guess. Rielly deserves a fine and at most a game suspension and move on. I'm more concerned about the loss to the lowly Sens than the hit at the end… at least Rielly is showing some emotions from the leafs.

  15. Reilly needs 4 or 5 for what he did. Deliberate planned attack to the head. If the Jet's Dillon got 3 for a play that was a bigger guy hitting a smaller guy who was skating low. Reilly knew what he was doing. But it's the maple leafs so likely a stern talking to.

  16. I hope this game wakes up the Leafs. They play half asleep. 2 games well worth the cross-check if that's what's handed out. That was a classless move by Grieg. Zero penalties for Ottawa when they're flopping whenever anyone is touched is just as classless. Total classless team. That's why they're a bottom feeder.

  17. Are you kidding me? I am shocked THG. Obviously the slap shot 2 meters infront of an empty net is super lame. You know that. Any person doing that will get some push back after. It’s a thing in hockey. 🤨
I think you’re just saying this to get more comments( like mine ) and hence more views and then more money 💰

  18. If slapping shotting a puck into an empty net is worth a cross check to the head, then is sliding it in worth a slash?

  19. Ridiculous take on the empty netter. There's no chance he could have missed that empty netter with a tap in.

  20. I don't care about the "code", getting offended how you lose (on an empty netter!) is such a pussy move.

  21. Detroit will take the cup this year. Leafs shouldn't even be in the spot they are. Detroit's record is better and you're going to start seeing the wings punish teams with 5-6+ goals a game.
