Im just torn if this is enough of a reason to keep him around.

Do not resign him unless if it is league minimum

Dude Perron has been a huge pickup and one of the best redwings of the last 9 years like wtf.

Maybe it’s the alcohol talking but like goddamn I appreciate that dude, and i am kinda scared to see what this team looks like without him.

Article is blocked in EU, what’s the gist here?

Call up Mazur and let him learn from Perron the rest of the season. I know they’re not the same player, but he’s the only greasy fwd in our system projected in the top 9. Mazur is already a pain in the ass. Now he just needs to learn how to play the half wall and protect the puck like DP and then we’ll have a cheaper younger alternative.

I love what DP has done this year, and maybe he just takes a while to get going, but if he starts next year like he started this year no one is going to be happy we brought him back.

  6. Great, let’s resign him…

Then next year we can have

    Larkin

    Raymond

    Debrincat

    Rasmussen

    Kostin

    Fabbri

    Copp

    Compher

And everybody wants them to resign

    Kane

    Perron

    Fischer

    Sprong

    Veleno

And on defense, we will have

    Petry

    Seider

    Maata

    Chairot

Holl (let’s be honest, no team is going to take him)

    Walman

I honestly don’t see how they could justify keeping Edvinsson in Grand Rapids another year, but he might need some more quality AHL time, so who knows.

    In net we will have

    Lyon

    Husso

Does this lineup look familiar to you?

Perron is an excellent player, has a lot of experience, brings a TON of heart, gives that 2nd and 3rd effort. Excellent fore checking in the offensive zone.

He’s getting old and slow, but he would probably take a pay cut to stay. Signing him for 3mil would be an absolute steal.

I’ve found that Perron is quite underrated in this subreddit, maybe a lot of people don’t actually watch the games and just look at score sheets? Actually watch the guy play hockey against the boards, that’s all you need to know. Watch him during power plays. Perron isin’t perfect but he rarely causes breakaways. He’s able to open up the play and create space in the offensive zone. Able to keep the puck in the O zone quite often.

Again, for 3m? Why the hell wouldn’t we want to sign him? Let him finish his carreer here, keep in mind Detroit is the only team other than St Louis he’s actually signed a contract for.

Find me someone else who’d stick up for our captain like Perron did. Whether or not what he did was numbnuts.

He’s certainly a feisty veteran that plays with passion.

He’s also has one of the worse players in the league at driving scoring chances at 5v5. (Among players with 500 minutes or more this season, he is 515th out of 518 in 5v5 xG% according to Moneypuck).

As a leader and a PP specialist, he’s a useful guy to have on the team, but it’s gotta be in the correct matchup and at the right price.
