[Chris Johnston] With the Canucks believed to be among those pursuing Jake Guentzel, word is they’ve had discussions about potentially flipping Elias Lindholm to the Bruins as part of the machinations to make it happen.
Nothing concrete in place at this time. Still lots of moving parts.

Jim Rutherford / Patrik Allvin are honestly the maddest lads in the NHL
damn.
Wow, that would be fucking crazy. Not sure how I feel about that. That would be a ballsy move.
Someone on here was legit suggesting this yesterday, I think
Uhhhhhhhhh……..
It’s F5’ing time
I really really doubt this happens but man it’s so fun being a fan of a Jim Rutherford managed team. The man considers absolutely everything.
Peak chaos.
This is why it’s always good to get your shopping done early
Seems awfully quick to give up on a guy. Having Lindholm when Petey or Miller potentially get injured would be amazing in the playoffs. Otherwise we could end up stuck with Suter or Bluger as 2c
This is completely unhinged and I fucking love it. Step out of the kitchen, Patrick is cooking
Let them cook
I don’t know if this is a great idea but fuck it, let’s get chaotic.
If they truly did acquire Lindholm under the possibility of trading Petey and now that he’s signed this could be a very chaotic big brain move.
If it works of course.
Lindholm hasn’t even had a chance to get used to a new team and system. He is capable of being a better two way forward than Guentzel, and still putting up top 6 points.
We paid a price to get him, so why give up before we even know what we have?
Wow, I have no idea how to feel about this. However, being a longtime suffering Canucks fan, my first thought was “we’re gonna meet Bruins in the finals again and Lindholm is gonna light us the fuck up” because this team can’t have nice things.
I’d be ok with this, specifically if there is a long term play here to keep Guentzel long term. Lindholm isn’t going to be re-signed, so may as well try and flip him for a longer term asset if they can navigate the cap constraints.
If Lindholm doesn’t get traded now, I wonder what this coming out could do to the vibes in the locker room
We just restocked the cupboard with prospects and now we’re trading them all away lol. Hope it works out.
So down for this please can we get a re-do lmao
Do not give anything to the Bruins… not one red cent.
Face off percentage suddenly just dropped by 20%
Sounds crazy, but I think it shows just how close Petey to Carolina actually was. Probably Necas back to play on Lindholm wing, and a D man + prospects.
Now that he’s signed we don’t need Lindholm anymore and need a scoring winger that can play in Tocchet’s system.
Rutherford is called trader Jim for a reason
*Sits down and places a hat made out of tinfoil firmly upon head *
What if the play all along to Petey was: “Sign and we will get you a high skill winger to play with” “we have a chance to get Guentzel”
If they can flip Lindholm to the B’s then I’m fine with going after Guentzel. Allvin and Rutherford are master chefs
Lindholm gets traded to boston and we meet him in the finals, would be an interesting story
Don’t discount this may be another 4d chess move to get Lindholm to motivate him or even sign him
What would this trade even look like?
Penguins receive: Boston’s 1st, Lysell (or Poitras), and Bains
Vancouver receives: Guentzel
Boston receives: Lindholm
I’m apprehensive that Vancouver move off too many more assets in a trade like this given the price for Lindholm but love the idea of getting Lindholm to an Eastern conference team while also keeping Guentzel off of VGK.
I would do this in a heartbeat.
Petey / Miller / Blueger / Suter is something I’m confident with in defensive centre depth going into the playoffs.
I think Alvin figured Lindholm was a slam dunk cuz as a centre, he can move anywhere in the lineup and he’ll fit right in, and instead he’s found there’s nowhere ( currently ) where he fits in the lineup that fixes a problem we have.
He’s great as our 3C but that was never our concern.
Lindholm may be a serviceable winger but for a Stanley cup run that you’re going all in on, you’d rather have an established winger to play with Petey. Lindholm isn’t a negative to the team, but he’s certainly been a marginal upgrade over what we have, and we paid a big price for it.
Cook us up something good, Alvin.
Do it…. Doooo etttt
If we recoup our losses in the trade, I don’t care what happens with the flip. This could be a chance to switch to something that can hopefully work out as lindholm hasn’t succeeded so far
3-d chess move: Canucks knew that Lindholm had a reputation as a cancer in the Flames locker room. Our record since obtaining him would somewhat agree. Trader Jim flips Lindholm to Boston to acquire Guentzel, Canucks meet Boston in the Final….Guentzel dekes and undresses Lindholm for Game 7 for cup-winning goal.
Trade for him to get the record of 6 players at the all star game, ship him out right after. Masterclass.
WILDCARD BITCHES!!!! YEEEEEEEEEHAW!
You just know Lindholm will kill it in Boston.
Absolute fucking madlads
That’s a spicy meatball
I wonder if the Penguins aren’t thrilled with what the Canucks can offer for Guentzel, so the Canucks just called up the Bruins and asked if they’d take Lindholm for Guentzel.
Flames subreddit saying they won the trade and wants us to choke first round…. So much for that comraderie…
I hope Kuzy leaves them in the off season and Hunter Toomanyconsonants pulls a Cutter Gauthier and vows not to play for Calgary 😈
This is why those “*Take care of Kuzy for us*” posts are lame and cringe.
Be a GM mode NHL 24
I’m not attached to lindholm. I like Guentzel
Wake up babe new unsubstantiated Canucks rumor mongering controversy happening
if this happens i will ask out my crush
