I read somewhere that after the Macdermid move the max contract we could take on was like 8.34 or something like that. But I have no idea the legitimacy of that or how that would work.

Nah, Guentzel is pretty easy to fit. It’s not until next year that he’s gonna get expensive. Not even technically necessary for them to retain anything on him but he’d be the one move they could make. So a certain chunk of our fanbase would be pretty upset.

Our roster just wouldn’t make sense. We’d be paying our wings so so much and have so so many of them.
The only wing that we could afford to lose, other teams would value, and that has an appreciable salary for matching purposes is…Lehky.
Do I absolutely adore Lehky? Yes. Would I exchange him for Guentzel in our lineup? In a heartbeat.

Curious why they’d go for another winger though. RyJo has to go in order to free up this space. Mack is technically a C, but that still leaves 2C wide open with RyJo leaving. Could fill it with Henrique. That likely is using the assets needed to get Guentzel though. I like him as a player, just doesn’t seem realistic. Will have Mikko, Nuke, Lehkonen, Drouin, and possibly Landy as like 1+2 wingers. You’d be automatically assuming Landy is 3rd line (which is more realistic I suppose) and then likely dropping Drouin/Lehkonen down too. If Landy is officially done, I’d say this is a great player to go for. Any shot at all that he returns to even a 2nd line caliber guy, that’s cap that can’t be sunk on another winger.
