For those who may be wondering about Berggren, he is not eligible for inclusion on the list due to being 23 years old.

Red Wings are currently in a playoff spot and have one of the best prospect pools in the league. That’s pretty good.

  5. Micah_JD

Our 10th best prospect has 5 goals in 21 NHL games.

    That’s a 20 goal season pace (19.5 if you’re being nit-picky).

Honestly between Buffalo and Detroit, I prefer our prospect pool. The only guy I’d really love to have is Benson, and he shouldn’t have even been considered a prospect by Wheeler’s standards.

  7. Background_Junket_35

Here is his summary of our pool “The Red Wings’ pool is led by half a dozen higher-end prospects and followed by legitimate depth in numbers right through to the end of the list. They don’t have a top-10 forward prospect but they’ve got two top-10 D prospects, they’re the only organization in the league with two top-10 goalie prospects, and there are another two (or three) forwards who are going to be really solid NHL players, plus several others who’ve got a chance to play games.”

  8. As someone who’s watches like a prospect game a day at minimum this is such a good read. He very clearly watched these guys because he doesn’t fall into the clichés most people who don’t watch so.

ASP is a very good defender because he puts up points doesn’t mean he can’t defend. Scott nails how he uses his stick and physicality to close players off.

As someone who watches pretty much every griffins game he nails most of the griffins assessment. And his Buchelnikov assessment should get people who haven’t watched excited.

  9. An that’s why I am so excited to see some of them in Detroit. 🙂

Wings are only 2 because wheeler bent the rules and included Devon Levi and Zach Benson in the sabres list even though they’re full time nhl’ers

has hell frozen over? thanks to the athletic for showing us some love

ALJO is one prospect I do not want to lose. I really hope he can become a second or third pair during some deep playoff runs. 1-3 years if all pans out something like

    Ed-Mo
    Wallinder-tuo
    ALJO-ASP

I do wonder who makes the cut as far as long term wings plans? But nice to have so many talented hockey players to root for. Let’s hope for continued development and success the rest of the way. Let’s go red wings.

Everyone is high on Ed/Buium/ASP, and rightfully so, but I have a feeling Albert is really going to surprise people once he comes up

  15. Feels wrong to me that Red Savage doesn’t make the list. I think he’s going to play, which I’m not sure I could say about the bigger Johansson.

Is Johnny burgers no longer considered a prospect?

Very casual fan. What does the author mean when he’s calling someone a 200 foot skater or a 190 foot skater?

  18. John-Balaya

I’m probably in the minority on this but I believe Red Savage should have been ranked over NDN and Anton Johansson. I think he is overlooked by Scott simply because he is older than a lot of the other guys here and because he’s probably a bottom of the lineup kind of guy with a touch more skill than a Christian Fischer type while being good at faceoffs.
