WAS MAPLE LEAFS BIGGEST MISTAKE LETTING HYMAN WALK?

Since leaving the Maple Leafs to sign with the Oilers back in 2021, Zach Hyman has set a new career-high in goals each year, and currently has 40 in just 56 games this season. With the Leafs paying Tyler Bertuzzi the same $5.5 million salary they passed on with Hyman, was their biggest mistake letting him walk? Gino Reda shared his thoughts.

  1. McDavid makes people around him better but you need dedication and skill to play with McDavid. Not Everyone can do it. Credit to Hyman to be a positive work horse and learning each and everyday to be better. Congratulations

  2. It is hard with envy for Leaf Fans to watch the Oiler stars. At least Matthews might scorer enough – to be about at the 13th overall in goal scored in a season & likely the top goal scorer this century. Would like to see Matthews get better at scoring points – maybe less goals and more points overall thru more per season assists.😀

  3. Let's be honest, no one could have predicted Hyman being this kind of Goal scorer. However, it was still a mistake letting him go with the other intangibles he brings.

  4. Yes, anyone would want a Mully on that one at 5.5 Mill
Nobody knows Hymans true value until
he plays without McDavid or Matthews/Marner

For example when he becomes a FA and asks for 9-10 million the Oilers probably arent going to tender an offer to him.

  5. Kyle Dubas master class. Trades kadri for kerfoot, let’s Hyman go, let’s Fredrick Andersen go for mrazek.
Toronto fans are clowns, dubas was garbage

  6. Very simple answer yeah. Tavares wasn’t a centre we needed, and we could have used that money to keep Hyman, some of Dubas’ decisions were great, some were poor. If Hyman was on a line with Matthews and Marner he’d be putting up similar points.

  7. The Leafs also threw in 2 bonuses. Because Dubas was all peeved and pouty. he did not want to take a year off Hymans Oilers contract, The Oil got him for an extra year! 7 not 6. The Oilers used the 6th round draft pick they would have given the Leafs to draft Petrov, currently at the AHL level, one step from the NHL. Thanks Toronto! With bone head moves like that no wonder no cups since before the moon landing!

  8. I’m so glad Leafs were too stupid to pay Zach Hyman.keep up the great work Leafs management.leafs will never win another Stanley cup.dont forget Alexander Steen and on and on and on.(not a Leafs fan).😊😊😊

  9. Didn’t Craig Simpson score 43, I though he played left wing that year and most of his career with oilers.. could be wrong though

  10. It sure as Hell was Kyle Dubas' Fault .. among .. Many .. Many Other Mistakes.. Trading away Draft Picks & Prospects for .. " Nothing Players "
… I'm just glad that Dubas is FINALLY Gone .. He NEVER should have been GM in the First place .
