He does that already. It’s just that he’s the guy who gets the puck back from the guy who he passed to so that he can score

Can we start giving him assists on his own goals?

Points are really arbitrary when you think about it.

    1. Why are goals and assists worth the same?

    2. Why are 2 assists awarded? Why not 1 and why not 3?

    3. A goal scored with two assisted is worth more than an unassisted goal when looking at aggregate points, but both have the same value towards winning a match.

It’s why as someone who has a very strong stats background, I love the recent explosion of advanced stats. They are still no where near perfect, but the bar should just be to be better than the current standard, which I think they absolutely are.

Oh boy. Did anyone expect the Beaver to skewer the overinflated importance of secondary points today?

This is a 10/10 sarcastic sports article.

“The fact that no other sport gives a shit about secondary assists tells you how important they are to our game, and not that it’s a silly stat to consider when evaluating players,” he added.

Matthews currently has 12 more goals than the nearest competitor and strong primary assist numbers. But according to experts/[Edmonton Oilers](https://thebeaverton.com/tag/edmonton-oilers/) fans, that is just proof how one dimensional the game is of the league leader in takeaways, top 5 forward in blocks and Selke level defensive centre.”

Why pass to another guy when he could pass it into the back of the net?

The hilarious part about this is that when Marner does elect to actually shoot the puck, he’s a top-tier goal scorer himself.

seriously give this man the Selke. No one else rn can make so many defensive plays while also being on pace for 70 goals

To be fair to the secondary assist sometimes it is more responsible for the goal than the primary assist.
