The powerplay has been slumping and the team is still winning. But the biggest change is we aren’t giving up so many chances off the rush. If the powerplay gets hot again and we play like this at 5v5 we’re going to be really hard to beat.

I will admit I have only watched about 40-50% of the games this year, but what I noticed when they were dominant at the start was their desperation/desire on each shift. They were getting in front of pucks in their own zone, and attacking the puck when it was loose, they always seemed to get to the puck first. During that massive slump, it seemed like last years team. We looked lazy, slow, and honestly unbothered.

Despite this win streak, many of the games looked the same. We were winning because we were better, but doing a lot of little things wrong.

The final 10 minutes of the outdoor game and the game last night looked like they cared about playing hockey again. They were doing all of those little things correctly. They were getting to loose pucks, they were blocking shots, and they were physical. It just looked like they wanted to play again. I think this is the biggest frustration with this team, because these are the **same** things fans have been complaining about over the last 4-5 seasons.

We look *dominant* at times, and then go through stretches where effort is a major question of the team.

Last night was by far the best win in 2024, and probably one of the best full games of the season. Hopefully they can keep this momentum going and sustain it into the playoffs.

It goes without being said that this was the best game of the season for Igor. I have been extremely hard on him and worried about his glove side, but if this was the game that gets his swagger back, we are a much better team than we were last week.

Thanks NHL.com for the basic boxcar stats to fit our narrative, but I’d guarantee we are in a very large deficit as far as quality scoring chances for/against.

To me this team is plenty talented enough on offense. Are we the most talented offensively? Absolutely not but we dont have to be.

If we play a tight game in the neutral zone and our own end, backcheck like we’ve shown we can do and keep the trash from out in front of our net this team is more than good enough.

Another weapon would certainly be nice but things typically tighten up a lot down the stretch and in the playoffs. My mentality tends to be more defensive focused and this team seems to be at its best when its prioritizing a high level of play in their own end.

Last night against Dallas wasn’t even a great effort imo and we held them to a goal. We can play a better brand of hockey than we did last night. Shesty bailed us out a few times which will almost always be necessary but commitment to high level defensive play is what is going to make or break this team imo.

PP and PK towards the bottom of the league tho

I wish our PK was better but I’ll take it

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The rangers were the best team in the league through the first 3 months. They slumped for literally not even one full month, where they were only a little below .500, and then they went right back to being dominant again. That slump was the outlier, This team is ridiculous. Sure it still has room for improvement, but people really got to chill out about that one month of slightly below .500 play. I mean hell you had some people talking about blowing up the team lol
