That’s a phenomenal deal for a player who’s played really well up and down the lineup.

Edit to add: Would love to extend Vesey too

  2. rjdsf1993

2x $787,500, 1 way contract for those interested.

Super well deserved and I think at worst the team has a really strong bottom 6 piece for two years.

  3. xXDireLegendXx

One way deal for both years, 787,500 AAV per Walker. Great deal

  4. Hionhelium87

So happy for Brodz, he’s earned this!

  5. Bread_man10

Good for him, great story to break in the league at 30. Really happy for the guy

Does this further solidify that we are moving for a 1RW? Is 3C now set with Brodz?

  7. Maleficent-Comfort-2

AAV? Please not be league min. Brodzinski deserves more than that.

We have Brodzinski, Cuylle, Vesey, and Edstrom locked up for next year all at under $1 million, as well as Berard & Sykora coming up, and maybe Rempe sticking around. All cheap and not bad players.

This is how you build a bottom 6. It’s a shame Drury only realized this after giving the Goodrow contract but whatever, he’s clearly learned his lesson.

I hope there is a lesson in here for Drury that they can find cheap good bottom six talent in our farm system or in FA (Vesey). We should never be giving millions for 6 years for the same type of player.

  10. amazing deal for a potential 3rd center and 4th when chytil comes back.

  11. JPmoneyman

At least it appears Drury has learned how to build a bottom 6 after giving out that Goodrow contract. He’s made mistakes but at least he’s learning from them and doing better. Well deserved contract for Brodzinski as well.

  12. the_mair

This contract and the Vesey contract make the Goodrow contract all the more infuriating lmao

Nevertheless congrats to Jonny especially on the one-way part of this he deserves it

  13. MorganLaxGoalie

Great deal, love that we have 2 more years of Jonny Hockey!

  14. jkman61494

Well deserved for him and serves as a barrier of protection if we lose Chytl for good. it’s a stop gap to get us some cap space and cap going up to bring in a successor.

  15. Envelopen

Big fan of this move hes been a wolfpack leader for a long time and felt he has been down there longer than he should have, cant wait to see what he does in the future

  16. sovietdoppelganger

Great deal, will provide fantastic C/RW depth on the bottom 6 going forward

  17. LemonHayes13

Even though he’s gone, Shoutout Kris Knoblauch man. The AHLers that have been called up can fuckin play

  18. BarmyDevonian

What a great story of perseverance. Can’t think of a better example for the org to show aspiring NHLers that if you keep playing well you will get rewarded no matter how old you are. Thrilled for the guy.

  19. kmisca92

Solid deal. Now hopefully they buyout Goodrow over the summer and the 4th line is a combo of Brodz, Vesey, Edstrom, Rempe with one being the 13F.

  20. Teknicsrx7

JBrod finally getting the shot he’s worked for

  21. ObviousKangaroo

No brainer at practically the minimum salary. Can always move him if needed.

  22. McGrathLegend

I did not realize he was already 30 and will be 31 next season

  23. Nice deal for who should very obviously be their 3C right now and 4C next year with Chytil return. I would’ve sprung for a 3x$1m but I’ll take it

  24. Good for him, dude is all hustle. At worst we have a solid fourth liner.

  25. Formisonic

Fantastic! JBro can play all 3 F positions, reliably take FOs, his skating is an asset, and seems really well liked in the room. He may not light the world on fire (who does at $800k?), but he is not a black hole offensively or defensively.

If we add a couple F (reasonably priced ones, hopefully), then I’m confident in Vesey Brodz Goods as a 4th line heading into the post season.
