Why why is the pp not working
One thing I believe I forgot to mention… Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang both out to lunch on the GWG in OT allowing Pelech to walk straight down the middle of the ice uncontested… not good.
Honestly should just get rid of the entire coaching staff except maybe the goalie coach

Coaches are all intelligent, grown adult men. There’s no reason why they can’t find a PP scheme that works with this team. I’ve advocated to keep Sullivan but his time is over in Pittsburgh if we want one last cup cup for this core (instead of a rebuild now)
You said "the PP is historically bad" and yet neither the head coach nor the GM have made a change to the PP coach. Its ridiculous. And what is the result of going on a run now? this is not a playoff team. They would be better served selling off whatever assets they can to start the process for next year. Their #1 pick going to san jose is protected. So why not get the top 10 pick this year? Then trade jake and get a later 1st round pick and they could have 2 first round picks this year. Trade Ned, eller, POJ, reach out to vegas to see if they want smith back. Start the off season with $25M+ in cap space. This team has wasted a great year from Sid.
I know there is zero chance that sullivan is fired but i think there is a big disconnect. The coaching staff needs to be changed. Its easier to change the coaches than the 23 skaters.
