[23Sabres] I know they won today but it is wild how much they’ve squandered such an unbelievable run by UPL. The Andrew Hammond run was a .941, the Binnington run was a .927 (different scoring eras) UPL rocking a .943 in his 12 game run in 2024 and they are 7-5-0.

Such a weird comparison to me. Not to take away from UPL, but some goalie probably has a month like that every month. 3rd star of January was a goalie with a .953 for example. Hammond and Binni’s runs aren’t remembered because of their sv%. They are remembered because of their win%, and are some of the most historic runs in the history of the game lol.
That’s what anemic offense gets you
The Sabres are the masters of squandering goalie talent by having no defense in front of them.
It is a frustratingly consistent pattern.

Just to put into perspective, they are 17-21-4 without the 7-5. 17-21-4 is a .422 points rate. 7-5 is a .583 points rate. .583 points rate would good for 6th place in the conference and a playoff spot. .422 is 15th place in the conference and staring down the barrel of another top 10 pick. Pretty incredible the impact good goaltending has on a team. It shouldn’t be a surprise but he we are again for the 4th straight year of Adam’s tenure.
All this says to me is it looks like the Sabres may finally have their answer in goal.
