Such a great show! Thoughtful and intelligent observations. (I just hope we're further along in the rebuild, and closer to pushing for the playoffs. I realize that it will also be dependent on trades and draft picks.)
Also regarding Gorton…it’s the Montreal Canadiens we are talking about. He compared it to the Yankees when he first addressed the Montreal media. He worked for the Bruins and the Rangers, so he seems to give importance to the storied franchises.
this pod is so informative. always a nuanced discussion with you two
Please don’t talk about Slavkosky
About the topic on the future playing right now professionally. That really tells you how badly Bergevin dropped the ball on developing players. His mindset that the NHL isn't a development league, but did he develop players at the AHL level? He really left the Canadien's bare there. You can say that the NHL isn't a development league, players still develop and grow like Slavkofsky has done and Caufield who is still growing his game is also developing at the NHL.
What is good though is that there are some very interesting prospects outside the NHL/AHL that Montreal has and some of them are in the KHL. We have several players there that are excelling. This draft is going to be so important for Montreal. One of the better drafts coming in the last few years. Deep on blue chip defenseman, but also some very good forwards as well. Looking forward to see how Montreal navigates this upcoming draft.
Hot Caufield sounds like a euphemism
Matheson is not part of future core. Guy is a mistake machine, is unable to pass to Slaf for some reason… I don't care how well he skates. They overplay him cause Hutson isn't ready but c'mon…he is so overrated and should be on 2nd pair.
At 53 min mark, I agree, this is a possibility not to overlook – trading Primeau
During Canadiens press conferences Basu asks long and complicated questions and starts mumbling and fumbling and gets lost. Stick to short clear questions instead of embarrassing himself.
Feedback: By far the most intelligent/informed commentary on the Habs out there.
