  1. Monahan is the guy who you play with one minute left in the game taking the faceoff whether it’s with a 1 goal lead or down 1 goal. Monahan is super good in the bumper position on the PP and also very effective down low.

Beloved by all in the locker room, he’s often deemed the funniest guy on the team. He’s also a true Canadian at heart, don’t be surprised if he decides to re-sign making this deal not a pure rental.

  2. Now who’s gonna pay the most for Henrique he’s best available center. Anaheim is getting its first +

  3. The Jets and their fans will NEVER complain if they have to move that Conditional 3rd Round pick to Montreal. Monahan should look great on the 2nd line, or can you imagine the damage he should do on the 3rd line? As a Habs fan, Im happy Monahan will go to a contender and even happier its a Canadian team that doesnt rhyme with Tomato Staple Laffs. Ialready had the Jets going to the Cup final thanks to their fantastic Defence and Goaltending. I really believe the Jets have addressed thier offence and should now acquire a Depth D man or 4th line Wing which shouldnt cost too much. Great acquisition by Chevvy and the Jets today!

  4. I agree with @lyssahoude you can give 3 rst first round pick conditional to a stanley cup win if you loose well you lost nothing if you win the cup, well you won your first cup ever ! who cares about those three first round picks anyway!.

  5. Your analysis is solid. This is a good acquisition for a lot of reasons, and could turn out to be brilliant. It all depends on Sean’s health.

  6. This deal checks a lot of boxes for the Jets. What’s next, getting a PP D man ( besides 44) that can hit the net. Time to see what 14 looks like in the lineup and move 88 out. Gives Chevy some time to see what we have in 14 or make another move to strengthen our D weeknesses.

  7. I'm a habs fan and This podcast don't realize how good is Monahan. It's better than Lindholm all around. Monahan played with garbage players and young players. 35 pts in 49 games is huge in this condition. Forget the -10, the habs top 6 are -16 to -21. Habs are close to 500, they will drop to 350 without monahan. The players around him will be better. Elhers and Prefetti production will explode. The only negative point is the injuries. Jets are closer to the cup….

  8. This is funny. Do you think you paid too much? By the time you play your first playoff game, you will be thanking Montreal. Monahan is a gamer. You won this trade. The only way we get value from this is if we can get him back in the off-season for a few years to mentor our young guys. Monahan is a class act. You got what you needed, so win the cup for Canadians. Cheers

  9. Hard to believe the whining coming out of 'the peg' . They haven't even seen him play. You would like to think that with all the "players don't want to play there" … They could be more welcoming.
Sean is a winner.. Ask anyone who knows him. Anyone.

  10. First round draft choice for Monahan. Great. 3rd round conditional for 2027 is bullshit! I'm sad to see Monahan leave. In the meantime, Habs are going to slump. I hope they get a great pick in 2024.

  11. Monahan will be great with the Jets and I hope they bring the cup home. But seeing Berkshire as a guest on any podcast always puzzles me……For me, Andrew Berkshire will always be one of the few ''hockey experts'' who was 100% against the PK Subban trade…..I loved PK like a lot of Habs fans and yet it was obvious to me we were getting a better player in Shea Weber….Berkshire could not be unbiased and separate his love for PK from his evaluation of the trade, and to me that just screams of incompetence.

  12. Winnipeg and Montreal always make good trades with each other and I hope it continues.

I"m a diehard Habs fan and I think the trade is a win win for both teams. Monahan is great player in many areas and Montreal will miss Monahan big time. A 28th pick in the first round is truly a second pick and that's were Winnipeg wins the deal however habs got 2 first rounders for Sean so I'm very happy for both teams. I will be cheering for Winnipeg in the playoffs because of Monahan!!! Good luck my Winnipeg Friends.

  13. tg, our face off performance was killing us. It was a great trade, people love to think first round draft is a guarantee of a benefit to the team.

  14. Jets are a better team now! Preferred Monahan over Lindholm! Even if Monahan gets injured again, his cap hit is low enough to manage! Still have room to make another addition!

  15. This trade is a big win for the jets. Just comparing lindholm to Monahan i think the jets got the better player.
To be fair they are simalar player but the jets traded wayyyyy less.
Faceoffs are the virtually the same at 55%
Monahan has the edge on points while playing with worse players imo.
I feel goal scoring Monahan has the edge as well.

  16. I feel like the price is the closest to a fair price that Chevy has paid in a very long time. Normally he steals…. Even if it takes a few transactions to prove true.i think this is a very fair trade

  17. I am commenting as i listen, so forgive me if it is resolved. No prospects given for a rental if that is all it is. Prospects.. we have to s even after losing chisholm. 1st round is probably 25-32

  18. If Monahan somhow doesn't decide to check like every other of the 22 players… It might be a fail. Imagine how hard that would be to do… Ok… Pld. Its not impossible

  19. Sorry Andrew. No offence but i am not going to keep up with Habs day to day thoughts. That said, you have a great demeanor and some really great analysis
