Although that I like Bobby, I do not remember him being a tough guy. The crosscheck across the head was totally ridiculous. I must admit that I think less of Bobby's hockey IQ after watching this clip. What Reilly should have done is to do a facewash at the most.
with no disrespect to any one…. Rielly should of just pushed him and challenge him to a fight. This was pure intent to injure. Rielly deserves 7-10 games.The argument that the stick bounced off Greig shoulders is absurd. Greig reacted with his arms as anyone would when he seen the stick heading for his shoulders.Then Rielly should of crosschecked him in the mid section. No excuse here. If Rielly didnt like the slapshot then don't allow the break away. Even better don't trail the 28th team in the league at the end of the 3rd period. The Leafs played like shit then they get upset when Greig celebrated the win.
There's a ton on ways to respond in a physical manner that don't involve a stick to the head/face. Drop the gloves, don't crosscheck him in the side of the face. Rielly is 225lbs; Greig is 184lbs. He essentially suckered a guy 40lbs smaller than he is.
