He’s the only guy who consistently finds another level in the playoffs.
The best partner we’ve managed to find him in his entire career here is TJ fucking Brodie, maybe the most vanilla top pair defender in the NHL.
I hope he gets suspended for 10 games so we can all watch this team have to figure their shit the fuck out without this guy singlehandedly carrying our blue line.

Yup. I’ve wanted the C on him ever since JT got here. Fucking guy is a warrior.
Don’t forget the game last year when I think it was Robertson got levelled. Everyone else threw their arms up and looked at the refs, Reilly B-lined it for the guy, threw the gloves down and jumped him without any hesitation. Tavares was on the ice and was one of the guys that threw his arms up, he skated over and hugged a dude but didn’t do anything else. I love Tavares but show some emotion when a rookie on your team, that you’re supposed to be leading, gets lined up in an open ice hit.

Just days ago it was “Matthews is my captain” everywhere.
Not hating on JT, good guy and good player. But Mo should have been named captain. Great man, great leader, and has been a leaf since day 1.
Mo is the emotional heartbeat of this team, and instead we have a captain who is more interested in looking at the refs rather than sticking up for his teammates. We need leaders who will drag guys into the fight when it’s worth fighting, not backing away and hoping it’ll all stop.
