The Leafs are not good trading partners for the Flames. There are much better options i.e. New Jersey, Florida, etc. out there.

Ofc it would help a lot if Toronto can get both and re-sign both or one, but dose that mean you are happy with goalies now? Or where you see you could get salary cap for (CGY)trade and resings. You willing to save in forwards salary next year? Would you be ready to give Marner to get salary cap, if you can get and re-sign both and maybe some extra from Calgary? I do think Tanev and Hanifin are most wanted players in trade deadline.

If Toronto Is Going For Broke Why Wouldn't They Trade For Tanev, Hanifin & Markstrom, They Need Goaltending Too!
Brodie Liljegren Minten and a 1st for Hanifin and Tanev should only happen if they are extended which isn't likely considering Hanifin wants to play in the USA.
For me they would have to trade mercer from Toronto plus a 1st round pick for tanev and hanifin

Cap space says that will not work. Tanev and Hanafin are $9,450,000 total. The only way the Trade happens is if the Leafs trade Brodie and Bertuzzi = $10,500,000.Or Brodie $5,000,000, Kampf $2,400,000, Lily $1,400,000, Robertson $796,000 which equals $9,596,000. Otherwise it will not happen. Also Treliving may not take either player if they do not extend their contracts with the Leafs. Both Hanafin and Tanev are UFA's after this year. Too many what if's in this trade. Don't see it happening.

Selling the farm for rentals is absurd. This team has first round exit written all over it even with Hanifin and Tanev. If they do make a trade there needs to be extensions in place.

You didn’t mention Gio in this convo. (Unless I misheard) He would play ahead of Timmons and Benoit for sure
Leafs and Leafs nation are GREAT at hyping their prospects… Lilejgren, Sandin, Robertson, now it's Cowan and Minten? If the Leafs have consternation over trading any of these guys for 2 top 4 dmen, both mobile who can also be put together as an established pair, you pull that proposed trade in a heartbeat. Nope from a Flames fan – deal them separately and get more from 2 teams than that proposed deal.
The Leafs trading for Hanefin would only show they have not learned from the last several years. Harvesting the future and giving it away to acquire a UFA who they will not be able to re-sign has proven again and again to be a losing proposition.
They would have to be sending Brodie the other way. They would need to send actual roster players to even make it work under the cap — and does Calgary want Brodie?
At some point, Toronto needs to learn from the last five years' mistakes at the trade deadline. Every year they load up on UFA players who they cannot hope to get on a contract for the next year. From last year they have one guy left. It happens again and again. And meanwhile, all those prospects who have been moved are looking pretty good on other teams.

The season is a right off. Don't trade anymore picks prospects. Trade the U.F.A's for whatever. BUILD YOUR FRIGGIN DEFENSE, the past 7 years has proven that they cannot win on skill alone.
The leafs are not getting both wtf 😂 how good do u think those prospects are? Those are both solid top 4 defensemen on almost any team
