Trade deadline additions?

Islanders listed as a fit here for Hanifin. Think I would prefer to grab a winger [https://bvmsports.com/2024/02/08/noah-hanifin-on-the-trade-block-5-possible-landing-spots/](https://bvmsports.com/2024/02/08/noah-hanifin-on-the-trade-block-5-possible-landing-spots/)

I wouldn’t mind him but I’d probably prioritize a winger too

Provided everyone stays healthy, I think our d is in a good place so we should prob go for a winger

He’d be a huge improvement, but he’s going to want an awful lot of coin. If the draft capital isn’t too expensive then it could be worth a gamble, but they cannot keep kicking the can down the road like this to back into the playoffs as a wild card team otherwise. I don’t like it.

  4. I’ve heard that it’ll be hard to get him to sign an extension as his family is in Boston and he wants to be in Boston closer to his family. So on that basis, you can’t trade for him without an extension done beforehand.

Would definitely 100% prioritize a winger but not sure who.

I think we need a winger more as well, but I also don’t think any wingers will be made available with Hanifin’s combination of on-ice impact and being young enough to want extended long term. So, I’d still be very happy with landing Hanifin, depending of course on what is going the other way.

I’m not saying we’re not getting Hanifin, but we’re not getting Hanifin without extending him. And I don’t want to get a wing unless it’s a top end wing with youth and term. Unless we’re giving up a 3rd and prospect for Duclair.

  7. Imo there’s basically only three defensemen on the market right now that are appealing, Hanafin, Sean Walker, or Tanev and both would probably cost a fortune in a bidding war with at least a first rounder. Much rather target a winger like Kubalik, Tarasenko, Duclair, maybe even former future islander Mike Hoffman to fill the 3rd line wing. Maybe an eberle reunion?

I’d rather add Hanifin. Isles have nothing besides Dobson on the blue line in terms of offense. And the market for an impact top 6 winger isn’t that impressive outside maybe Tarasenko, but I feel like it’s two years too late for getting him
