They’re bitching up a storm on r/hockey about how he’s not a repeat offender despite having been suspended previously, breaking Blueger’s jaw and injuring someone else this season.
I swear, anytime someone lays a dirty hit on a Penguin, they just play on the line and aren’t dirty at all! Just old time hockey and they know how to throw hard hits with their elbows that totally aren’t illegal at all.

Probably should have been more, but I get it. Gallagher got five, so this probably makes sense in the eyes of the NHL. Viewed through the eyes of a human being, however, this is a fucking travesty. I feel so bad for the human beings that are hockey players. The league is doing next to nothing to protect them.
Need to flush this prick down the sewer with the likes of Tom Wilson.

I figured he’d get one game. I think I’d prefer to live in a world where that hit gets 3 games but in the current NHL that seemed like a one gamer. I was the league would apply a consistent standard to these and I really don’t know why it’s so hard. I think everybody here See’s these hits and applies a fairly consistent standard to them in their minds when they evaluate them

I’m guessing it’s 3 games as to avoid retaliation when we play the jets again on Saturday. That’s two games for them, but still

I called this dude a massive POS after the hit on the r/hockey GDT and it got downvoted lol people want “dirty/cheap hits gone, these are human beings out there!” unless the cheap hit was thrown by one of their players lol
Like no seriously, let’s get rid of bullshit plays already. We don’t need head hunters, guys who hit other guys directly in the numbers into the boards, hell we don’t even need the cross check to the ribs behind the play no matter how much it happens or how much it’s “just a hockey thing”. I grew up loving enforcers and shit but then I grew up and realized all of that is the total antithesis to what makes the beautiful game of hockey truly great.
“Old time hockey” is bullshit and it’s just the excuse people make because they want to see guys kill each other. Modern gladiators and all. But how do you watch guys like McDavid or Mack or Makar and think “yeah it’d be pretty cool if Brendan Dillon or Tom Wilson or Jacob Trouba elbowed them in the head and knocked them out for months, potentially end their career maybe”
Hockey can be an intense, brutal sport with absolutely no one playing dirty. Fights can still happen, big hits can still happen, chirps and chippiness can still happen, all while no one pulls some fucking bullshit that kills the game. The NHL just doesn’t want it to happen for whatever reason, as evidenced by their horrifically bad DOPS and officiating
