With 327 Goals in just 512 games played, Auston Matthews has emerged as the most dangerous shooter in the world, reshaping the NHL landscape with his unique brand of hockey. His journey in the league is not just about goals and assists; it’s about revolutionizing the art of scoring. But what is it about Matthews that makes him a modern-day sniper? How has he redefined the boundaries of scoring in the NHL? This is the story of Auston Matthews – a player who hasn’t just played the game, he’s changed it forever.
Matthews’ journey to NHL stardom is as unique as his on-ice play. Born on September 17, 1997, in San Ramon, California, his path was unconventional. Unlike most NHL stars who come from traditional hockey hotbeds, Matthews developed his skills in a region where ice hockey is not popular. His journey to NHL supremacy began under the scorching Arizona sun. Matthews’ parents, Brian and Ema, played crucial roles in his development. His passion for hockey was nurtured by his mother, a native of Mexico, and his father, an American college baseball player.

Thanks for watching everyone. Sorry if you've seen this before, had to chop out some stuff for copyright reasons. Also thank you everyone for supporting the channel. Every video, I try to improve the editing and scripting. This one was made a while ago. Can't wait for you to see future stuff I'm putting out 😀
Roflmfao, good during the regular season but the absolute worst playoff records and stats for players who make 11 digit salaries, how you are all convinced that team breaking contracts for someone who has said he doesn't care about the playoffs is the best player ever is beyond me. I bet he is even close to
100 in the +/career playoff stats…Eric staal next
Imagine this guy with kucherov
He's not going to sleep with you
Imagine how good he would be if his line mates played to the level they are being paid.
He is the consumate goal scorer + a bit more. Unlike Ovechkin, who is primarily a shooter and needs someone to set him up, Matthews is a good puck handler. He is not at the same level of McDavid but McDavid is a playmaker. McDavid strength is his ability to control the game. Imagine Matthews playing with McDavid. We see the lethalness of this type of combination when McDavid and Draisaitl play together.
Let’s just say on a better coached team, he’d be a super, super star. Alas.
Just came to read all the haters 😂 what bunch of losers
He's probably the best 2 way forward in the NHL.
Marner really enjoys his line driving.
As Good as they get. The title is an unasked question, even those of us who hate the Leafs know how good he is.
He's a world class regular season goal scorer that disappears in the playoffs when his team needs him most. Until he proves otherwise, that's all he'll ever be. To be clear, I really hope he does prove otherwise!
Most overrated player in hockey history.
The problem is everyone starts watching him and forgets to play their game 😅
The Leafs will go as far as Austin Matthews will take them. There's only so far a single player can put a team on his back and take them to the promise land.
The leafs haven't had much luck in the playoffs but same could be said about Alex Ovechkin but eventually they will break through that curse.
GO LEAFS GO!!
Every time the Avs are on the ice in this it's not AM scoring a goal, but rather the Avs taking possession or shooting. I'm thinking someone's an Avs fan. Excellent videos!
He scored 40 goals in his rookie season. Just the other day, he scored his 40th goal – before the All-Star break. This guy is something else.
He’s a great regular season player but disappears during the playoffs
Mathews is not a center, he is a high scoring winger. He can't drive a line, his playmaking skills are average, defense average. Look at Elite centers like McKinnon, Crosby, McDavid and Kopitar, they have 200 ft game. Mathews is a better version of Tyler Seguin. As soon as Mathews drops a little, he will be a thirdline winger.
He is going to be the best American player ever
I'm a Sens fan, so im just here to remind the audience: While Auston scored 4 in his debut, the Leafs still lost that game. Another sign of things to come!
F you Toronto 😘
My favorite matthews moment is last year he had an off year due to injury and still scored more than 40 goals. And people tried to be like "see? He's over rated, he only scored 40 goals" only? Most players don't have a 40 goal season in their career.
how good is mathews in the playoffs the question
As a leafs fan, he makes me excited to watch them. Concern? His lack of ability to play a full season. I am worried he is a ticking time bomb to a large injury that will reduce his effectiveness for the team. When I think of that that way, all I can think of is Eric Lindros. I hope he can stay healthy.
Good actually? He's good, otherwise everybody would be performing like him since day one.
If one were to take the TO media seriously you would hear that Matthews is barely American League material. Leads the team in goals, blocked shots and take-aways in the O-Zone….ya…but..yabbuttt…he never fights….time for the dinosaurs to STFU.
TACO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is the next Ovechkin and everything shows it. Same height 6'3, extremely good slap shot/one timer and is a great goal scorer if not elite. He really needs to be more physical though much like Ovi. Back when Vegas first got in the league there is that clip of Ovi just bodying a Vegas player over the boards (Vegas is a strong tough team) and so much more clips of Ovi being very physical which is what Matthews needs. As far as I know prime Ovi was strong as heck but I honestly think Matthews is stronger and could be more physical and get in more scraps. He is very tough. Not physical. Don't get that mixed up. He is overall elite especially in the league within past 6 years with the likes of McDavid, Mackinnon, Draisaitl, Crosby (He only gets maybe a bit worse in speed and all that after every year due to getting older and even Ovechkin (This year has just been a downfall year mainly for goals though. He has some of the most assists on the team which hey is a great thing. My point is Matthews is elite much like those guys who there are even more that can go there but I won't get into that.
He can score all the goals he wants but He will never win a Cup in Toronto
I think he is a pretty elite scorer, but a fairly soft player. Let's see what a few more years do to him. Of course, in todays NHL, you're not allowed to breathe on the stars.
Mitch Mariner’s ability to find him with tape to tape passes seems to be overlooked here. Yes, he has an excellent shot but if someone doesn’t get him the puck, it’s not happening! Playoff success is the real measure of a superstar. So far not good.
He is fortunate to be on a team with the players it has. Not to say hes not great, but he thrives in the environment of finishing. He is so good at finding room to bury the puck and take quality shots, its insane. and his shot is unreal. literally game changing.
Glassthews in playoffs
Mathews is a great goal scorer however he puts up an average of 40 goals a season but hardly cracks 80 points. He put up 60 goals for his first 100+ point season only once. When mcdavid cracked 60 goals he put up 89 assists. Mathews best year ever in the nhl is on par with mcdavids worst. So far anyhow. He could grow and turn into a player that can lift his team mates with him but to call him the best scorer in the league is just wrong. Stats dont lie. hes entertaining as fuck though.
