Fall apart well I mean the compete level um enough visuals were there the compete wasn’t wasn’t wasn’t there and and uh you know you look at the two goals that we did score in the third period ooso Greenway Greenway and the net front and both and pretty simple like I said

Enough visuals in that game um you get to the net you get rewarded you don’t get reward you don’t get to the net you lose Puck battles and um you know again the third period you uh a difference a difference in that regard that was a difference in the whole game you know

You talked this morning about needing Pace you got pace and that resulted some goals but it almost comes off to me is how do you find more emotion and more care in that second period that was one of the most disgraceful periods certainly you’ve had since you’ve been a

Coach here I mean do you just sense that they’re just not mentally there at times you know when it when it this the there was two goals in the second period when when the first one of the second period was a penalty kill the penalty kill was fine until the very

End and then obviously they score we give up the next goal tripping ourselves and so you know I think the the that was the downer right there and you got to reather yourself and we didn’t till the third till the start of the third period um you know obviously

There were things said in between the periods um but we had a lull that shouldn’t have happened after that second goal the confidence went where it should have went down in the middle of a game can’t happen and uh it took till the start of

The third to regain it um and play with more compete obviously so does that surprise you I mean you have a few veteran guys in there and you have young guys you know played two three 400 games in the NHL that that they would just crumble confidence-wise in a game

Against you know a bad opponent it is it’s a confidence thing and I wouldn’t say any opponent’s bad that’s that’s you know this is the NHL that’s disrespectful in that regard so they were hungry tonight um absolutely we like I we’re talking about you lose you lose your confidence and that’s on you

You know it’s it’s you you know you you’ve got to find a way to fight through that and that we still have to find a way to fight through that obviously you leave this game uh you leave that on the table and you know that’s going to be in your mind and

You’ve got to find a way to fight through it um get to the other side of it like I said the compete was better in the third but it has to be that has to be the standard that has to be the norm every every every moment every shift

Mention that you mentioned that FR was that the thinking going to Greenway on the power play there late it was it was again I mean when you’re when you’re in that situation you’re you’re looking at lines and you’re looking at KBS KBs poo and gurgenson were the best for us and

They were the best because they played direct and hard and competitive they were strong on pucks they moved pucks forward they uh they were willing to battle um and you know after that you’re looking okay how how can you mix a match and um to find that to to find an

Elevated compete that’s that’s the challenge as you as you as you go through the game in that situation Don did you think there was any hangover from Saturday a key game in the season I think everybody knew what it meant I mean you can only guess it’s a it’s obviously a different venue

You travel the time change who knows but all of that is is is an ugly excuse to me you knew you knew you know the schedule you know your your routine and again um you know we we weren’t consistent with it we were you know far too inconsistent with the compete period

And um yeah it’s uh that’s that’s that’s the solve you’re not going to get your way out of this until you recognize you have to bring it every day you know it’s it’s it’s competition you got to be better than a guy across from you and if you’re if

You’re not willing to compete at a high high level it’s tough no matter who you play obviously that’s what we saw you were roughly 50 games in and you’re still as a group struggling with that issue I mean how what makes you think they’re going to figure out how to compete on

Consistent basis even if they don’t win they still have to compete more than that like I said to me when we gave up the second goal the heads the heads went down the confidence went down that can’t that can’t happen and you got to go through it I mean again

This this is this is a tough League um told you there’s no easy games you’re not ready to play and so I believe they will fight through this I believe they have it within their capacity it it’s just doing it and and processing it and but I do believe they’ll do itce
