It's the quick steps in his cross overs. He's not digging in his feet cause he's tapping the ice whereas the other guys' blades are in longer which makes them go deeper, more resistance. McDavid barely pushes up any snow in the corners cause his feet are just scratching the surface. When they showed huges and Nylander, their entire blades were dug into the ice on the crossovers.
McDavid of course, isn't just fast. he can make all the moves at top speed, control the puck and keep his vision at top speed. also has unrivaled agility, edge work, and everything else under the sun.
