HI r/canucks!
My name is Ryan Ventura. Lifelong Canucks fan, professional ring announcer, and long time lurker of this subreddit.
Last summer, the Vancouver Canucks had an open casting call for In-Arena hosts, and obviously being a lifelong Canucks fan, I wanted to make a submission for it. A bit of time has passed, and nothing came out of it. But this video was way too good not to share, especially with how this season has panned out for the boys.
If the opportunity ever did come, I personally believe I could make an excellent in-arena host. One day, I believe I could introduce the starting lineup in Rogers Arena too, the same way I do with fighters.

I’ve met Ryan around a bunch of the local martial arts/bjj/mma tournaments and I can say he’s a good dude. Check out his ring announcing work for BFL. Dude is very passionate and has worked his way up through that industry.

The ring announcement is too gimmicky and I get poor man’s Bruce Buffer vibes. But to be fair as soon as I saw that haircut I was pretty checked out on you as a whole. I want an in-game host that doesn’t make me cringe.

I was into it until I heard the UFC Fight Pass line and the starting lineup demo, just wasn’t what I was expecting.
This is dope! Would you be aiming for the announcer role, ala Al Murdoch, or the actual live arena host? I feel like if it’s the host, show a bit more of yourself! You won’t be introducing players as much as you will be interacting with the crowd and fans.
You’re extremely talented, doing any sort of MC or announcement role in a live capacity would terrify me!

I’d give a few options for how you do player introductions so they can see some variety. The one in the video wasn’t my favourite to be honest.
I’d still love to see a local boy get this job.

He says all the names the same way and honestly not very well. Current announcer is significantly better.
This is amazing, I love the passion especially. I think the last names need a bit more emphasis though, anyway just my opinion, I hope we can listen to you soon.👍

I’m sorry, are you campaigning to replace Al Murdoch?
I want to make it clearer for eveyeone, “In Arena Host” is different from “Arena Announcer”.
Al Murdoch’s shoes are way too big and there’s other extremely talented arena announcers that are way ahead of me.
Man, you are SO MUCH better than the guy doing it right now. The guy right now seems so soul-less, and his routines are so overdone once you go to more than 2-3 games.
