I dont understand the disruption question. Isnt that always a chance with anyone you add to the team? One thing i think weve seen with the Edmonton core is that other players like Kassian and Kane didnt effect the chemistry and they were coming in than far more baggage than Perry is. Theyre able to be professional and adapt to whoever comes and goes.
This is going to energize the team more than anything. There was talk in Edmonton about going after Perry if he could get himself together as soon as he was released by Chicago. The Oilers organization tried to aquire Perry on multiple occasions going back to the Pronger trade with Anaheim. The Oilers are currently winning but they're not shooting the lights out. Watch for the Oilers kick some ass tonight vs the Blue Jackets. McDavid, Draisaitl and company will be looking to showcase their skill for their new teammate. Good player review by Pang

Perry is a great asset to the Oilers, no doubt… and on ice it's a good signing, but we should at the very least know the particulars of the situation.
If Corey Perry is such a great player to have on your team? Why has he been on six (6?!) different teams over the last six seasons? And four of those teams were paying him relative peanuts.
Plus, this was on the NHL website last November 28 about Perry: 'After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation both of the terms of his Standard Player’s Contract and the Blackhawks’ internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments. As such, Corey Perry has been placed on unconditional waivers. In the event Mr. Perry clears waivers, we intend to terminate his contract effective immediately.'
On the surface, this seems like a stupid signing to me for a team that is flying high. ☮
