Will Lindholm trade open floodgates for more Canucks deals?

Farhan Lalji joins SC with Jay Onrait to share his initial thoughts on the Canucks acquiring Elias Lindholm from the Flames, discusses if he thinks this could be the first of many moves for Vancouver leading up to the trade deadline, and what the Lindholm trade could mean for a potential contract extension for Elias Pettersson.

  1. According to TORONTO SPORTS MEDIA logic anything canucks does is a "Bad deal" and we have to talk about Maple laffs when vancouver trades with any team…

  2. That’s a lot to give up for him.. I wanted him at the Oilers but that would’ve been too large of a haul in my opinion.. Hopefully it works out for Vancouver 🤷‍♂️

  3. If I were the Flames GM, there is no way I walk from this deal. I would further suggest Kuzmenko should be available for the right price until trade D.L.

  4. This has to be the end of the Canucks deals. They have almost nothing else to offer a team except roster plays and a 3 elite prospects. Kuzmenko and one other piece for a declining Lindholm on an expiring contract would have been fair. But a 1st, a conditional 4th AND 2 good prospects? Who are we? The Colorado…Rockies? The Canucks have to be Cup or bust at this point because there's no way in hell they can resign all of these players. Even if they let Myers go, which should be expected, resigning Lindholm, Zadorov, who they gave up good pieces for, Pettersson AND Hronek is going to be a tall order. I could see Lindholm, who is clearly on the decline, getting a Miller type of deal. That's not affordable. Top teams don't do this. Top teams bide their time and strike. Obviously, they're trying to convince Pettersson to stay, but is it really worth it if it costs them a Stanley Cup? And if we're not trying to win a Cup legitimately at some point, what's the point? If they win it this year, I'll eat my words, but I've been a fan since 1990. This was a Benning move. Or worse, a Jack Gordon move, if anyone gets that reference.

  5. Trade petey if he wants more then 12 per. We can get an impact player back in return who isnt going to hemorrhage the team and get pieces back for the future to keep contending.
This will allow us to sign lindholm as well.
I personally dont believe in giving one player 20% of the whole cap.

  6. We opened salary to keep Petey, Petey isn't reluctant, he simply doesn't want to think about it during the season most likely because what happens after extensions. Petey wants to be here.
