Basically a trade of 2 firsts, Scott Morrow/Jackson Blake and Jack Drury for Saros.

Seems like a reasonable trade for the chance at locking up the net for the next few years.

Team already heavily relies on the later rounds to find gems and if they are going to be picking in 25+ range of the draft it’s really not that big of a loss.

We could add “You See!” to the National Anthem.

I don’t like this. Saros has been pee pee poo poo this year and PK has been great in net past his first month starting.

Would rather see the team go after scoring depth/center depth.

I love Saros and would LOVE to have his name on a Canes sweater ( I would probably order one immediately after he got a different number)…. but doesn’t this seem to continue our pattern of getting later in their career goalies?

Plus, wouldn’t we have to cut Martin, Raanta atleast…maybe even PK or Freddy?

Saros is very athletic and plays usually well as long as the defense learn how to play to his advantage. For me this is a yes. Both Raanta and Andersen are old and are often injured. We need something more stable.

No idea what to make of this source lol but I would do that trade for sure.

worth it. We are a top tier team with the worst goaltending in the league right now.

I’ve wanted to see Saros in a Canes sweater for years. I’d love to see this happen, especially with Freddie being very unlikely to return this year. No way we can just roll out Kooch and Raanta in the playoffs again, we need another goalie and Saros is a perfect fit. He single-handedly stole 2 (almost 3) games from us when we played Nashville in the playoffs a couple years ago, the guy can absolutely elevate his game when needed. His stats may not be great this year but he’s playing on a pretty awful Nashville team, I’m confident that he could put up good numbers behind our D.

  9. I mean the two picks and the prospect aren’t a terrible deal (Nishkinin notwithstanding unless we know something they don’t). It’s the 4th asset that I feel is going to be the sticking point. It might have to be a 2nd or another big prospect.

How about no. That’s basically cam ward after the cup 2.0

This seems reasonable for Saros. Especially if you can condition one of the pieces. Saros is a great tender in a tough year

  12. Far-Two8659

The best part about Saros is he doesn’t get hurt often. He’s on track to play 64 games for the **third consecutive year.**

We can give him more breaks with Kooch, extend his career, and should absolutely make this deal if we’re only giving up assets.

People are talking about Drury, I’m not familiar with the Preds needs but I imagine we try to give Pesce in this deal and reduce it to one first. Would the Preds consider that?

Pesce gets to stay close to home, in the South, rather than getting carted off to Canada or something.

Can’t get goalied by him if he’s on our team

  14. EstablishmentNo5994

Guess I’m in the minority but I wouldn’t pay that price. He isn’t old but he’s also not young, either, and has, what, just one year left on his contract? No thanks.

  15. Minute-Struggle6052

The Canes value those 1st round picks too much to make this move.  Saros only has 1 year left on his deal after this one.  I’d give up similar to what Lindholm returned.  1st + Morrow + 4th + C prospect.

  16. archer4364

I’ll pass. Would rather keep the top prospect.

Unless we know Andersen won’t play again this year which he very well might not. But depends all on that.

If Andersen can get back I’m happy with him as the number one, Kochetkov backup, and Martin/Raanta third string.

  17. emeraldraf

Would this just be calling it then on Pyotr? I know you could do a tandem but saros has always been a more games guy

  18. CashComprehensive423

Seeing what Calgary got for Lindholm, this is spot on.
Whether a team pays this or not, is the question.

  19. JonTheWizard

Maybe, but the price is way too steep, I feel.
