  1. The Oilers at #18 despite the 80's dynasty and Gretzky having all the imaginable records? Such travesty. Wayne is the only God there is.

    Disclaimer:
I know how this list works, was just reflecting your average comment section whenever something Oilers related is published.

  2. Been a hell of a run. Hoping the season ends in a cup. Last year, they slipped up against Vegas, played a couple of terrible games and basically threw away the series. This year, Avs are nowhere near as good as when they won the cup, whereas the Oilers are way better. Winnipeg and Vancouver are bubbles and Vegas is not going to get lucky twice. So finals should be well within reach at the very least. After which, it's probably going to be Carolina or Florida, who are tough for sure, but not unbeatable.

  3. I am a little disappointed by the Oilers being 18. I was hoping they'd be at least 16 which is the middle marker. The 16 and above are the good teams the 17 and below are the bad teams. It's all opinion based but I would have liked to see the Oilers a couple spots higher. Alot of people also forget the Oilers made it to the third round in the 2022 stanley cup playoffs.

  4. It's less about depth scoring and more about defence and goaltending. When you win 2-1 the 3rd line gwg gets much more attention than the same guy scoring in a 4-1 loss.

  5. Yeah, they haven’t yet earned a rise to the top yet. The winning streak is impressive and every Oiler fans should be proud of that, but it’s going to take real consistency for another month to get that top 5 spot. Get some big wins when you face Vegas, Dallas (both road games) and Boston. You’ll be top 5 then.

  6. I think this was done before Perry signing? That solved one of the few issues remaining along with pickard being capable. And all the hater talk about the streak is all CGY which is expected and the nucks, but this is the first time in a decade they can chip so they are going waaaaaaaaay overboard with it like a 12 year old first time on the internet.

  7. It's funny how a winning streak by a strong team is discredited because they "played weak teams." Well, when you're ranked #7 in P% this season, odds are that the teams you're playing are lower than you in the standings. Imagine being first place! No, they're only winning because they're playing weak teams (ie, every other team), not because they're actually a strong team. But sometimes it feels like this only applies to the Oilers, because it's trendy to dismiss anything related to the Oilers winning.

  9. Not an Oilers fan but the streak they are on is insane. I want the Leafs to win the Cup but if another Canadian team wants to bring it back to Canada it's all good.

  10. I feel like defense and goaltending is firing on all cylinders now, but I don't think that there is breathing room for injuries. If Ekholm, Nurse, Bouchard or Skinner get seriously injured, it will be devastating. On the other hand, they could scratch a forward or two and there is enough depth that they will still be okay.

  11. As an Oilers fan when I look at what we could do in the immediate future I'm okay. We don't need anybody. That's not to say we should stand pat, we should still send our feelers out. My priority if I was Holland was finding Draisaitl a reliable line. We have a great line 3 and 4, but we often have pull guys from 3 and 4 like McLeod and Foegele to give Drai some scorers. Ideally we find a winger that makes Kane and Drai work wonders. I think our defense is underrated, they're putting up top 10 numbers and I am satisfied when I watch them. I would like an upgrade from Ceci but he hasn't been a glarring issue this year like he was last year. Woodcroft's new defensive system in combination with Knoblauch and Coffey's spin on things has helped everyone. We can talk goalies but the reality is there are teams that need a goalie more than we do and can afford more (namely New Jersey).

  12. I've said it before and I will say it again. I love the hate. From the league, from the "experts" from the keyboard warriors. The Oilers have shown grit, after that start, some humility was in order. The system play in the D zone and transitioning is rather impressive and looks almost flawless. The PK is flawless The Oilers have decided that the pace and scoring will be dictated by them, and with the natural scoring available, they can now just win a game in the 3rd. This will not be their recipe, but it is a great window into the playoff style we hope to see. Depth scoring, proper pairings and line combos have shown us that our "shinny new coaches" are a good mix of game knowledge and trusting your team. We will hoist the cup this year and silence all the haters.

As far as adds….Maybe a middle 6 winger, and a depth D man, but I would not go messing with they teams "mojo" so to speak.

    GO OILERS!

  13. as an oilers fan, i’m going to have to ask you to remove mikko koskinen from the thumbnail🫡love the channel

  14. A playoff tested backup. Someone that can come over cheap, like Fluery. After that, we are a very tough out in a best of 7. Can't wail for April, Go Oilers Go!

  15. Thanks for the effort on this and the other all time summaries. Commentary is great and the stats are interesting. I’d be curious if you could report on some sort of volatility measure. Standard deviation on weekly rankings would be possible. Ten week moving average would also be good. Either one graphed against the weekly ranking would be interesting. It would be a good measure of any bias or inconsistency in your methodology.

    Keep up the great work!

  16. The Oilers are winning and they dont even have their offensive lines set in stone yet. Anyone who thinks they've peaked just doesnt no what that means.

  17. The Oilers were the worst team in the league… They decided to do something about it. What does that say about EVERY other team?

  18. I was seriously considering laying down 1k when they were 320-1 odds in November to win the cup,oh well!
