When the forwards pressure the points in the D zone; when the D pressures below the red line when the other D man and center are communicating and holding position, the Wings are a Cup level team. Seriously. I like to say about the defensive work as don't be a spectator, be a participant. When they move and attack in their own zone while "holding position", they are as good as any team in the NHL.
I like the idea of Chychrun or Hanafin being a really solid still relatively young D that would definitely improve our D core, however I agree with Brian, I believe that we are going to stand pat at the deadline, as we already are very overcrowded at every position and we have guys in Grand Rapids who we need to eventually make space for next season. especially since both of those D men are left shot and we have Edvinson who should here already, we have Walman, and then Ghost for this year and Chiarot for another 1 or 2 years? I dont see how we can make that fit. If we got a solid RD that could play on the second pair in a defensive role that was under 28 Id definitely be down to go after them. Think a Rasmus Anderson or Weegar if they become available.
I think the Wings have an opportunity to add a game breaker if Zegras is in fact on the trade table. He's been quiet this season, but his hands and scoring could make him that.
