Would Kaapo Kakko be a Good Fit for Habs?

Should the Montreal Canadiens consider a trade for New York Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko?

  1. no he would not.
he is a former first round pick,so the rangers will ask alot in return.
he is also from gortons old team.thats not going to want to give away things to their old gm.that left because he said the team was bad and sorry.
but a guy like laine…is tainted with his team now.with a skillset that is above the moon.
    only needs to be motivated.
    so laine yes kakko no.

  2. Getting 2 first rounds picks for Monahan is kind of insane one for taking his contract and more than likely one for trading him

  3. Sorry. I don't see any reason for discussing Kakko. His numbers are nothing to write home about. Look in the Hockey DB. If we get 2 first rounds for Monahan, that will leave a gap at centre until these first rounders are ready to play in the NHL in 1, 2 or 3 years. For Monahan , a 1st rounder and a young prospect already established in the NHL.

  4. These guys wants to put everything on player that’s have been a disappointment… dreamer delusional Habs fan

  5. Kakko😂😂😂 Gorton didnt draft him, Brobov did 🤦‍♂ who in their right mind would make a move for any of Brobov former picks? He’s the worst scout in the league , yes kakko was drafted 2nd overall, what exactly what does that mean?

Montreal need proven legit first line talent , not some “maybe” or some “project”. They couldn’t afford to pass on michkov and what does Brobov do after Gorton asked him if passing on michkov was a good idea? He goes and picks reinbacher 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ yes let’s trade monahan for a former Brobov pick🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

  6. Zegris is overrated….you rarely win with it all with his style. He needs to be insulated .Great talent thou but there are way better but less "sexy " options.

  7. A trade for Kaapo Kakko might be one of the most interesting idea i heard for the past several weeks.

  8. Imo the timing for a big trade to get an offensive player is not necessarily now but more in2 to 3 years, unless you get that player from trading savard anderson or matteson. But with the number of d-man developing in 2-3 years, you might be able to sacrifice one of them with a 1st and get that offensive star…at that point you very well could have 9 very capable NHL defenseman. The listHudson reindbacher mailloux ghule Barron xhekaj Bogdan strubble and harris… if you keep matteson you only really need 5 of them…

  9. Kakko is the type of player we keep getting they are NOT good playoff type players we definitely do NOT need a player like that.IDC if Gorton drafted him he also drafted Slafkovsky whos ceiling WHEN he gets there is a second line player but right now I would argue he is not even NHL ready.
What the Habs need is th esame thing they needed for the past 30 years a good first round pick.
Guhle is NOT top 2 Kovacevic is number 2 and has lead the team two straight years on plus minus.Guhle is over rated he does nothing well he is just an average D that can shine a bit because he is on th eHabs any otehr team he drops down a tier.
Yeah Lafreniere was picked high for a reason how has that panned out?
Right now there is a 39 year old playing better than 7/8 of the league the NHL has a LOT of over rated players.
A first pick from Vancouver will be a number 20 pick lol.

  10. If we traded Monahan to the Canucks I'd be targeting Lekkerimäki over their first.

Our management took him out to dinner in the lead up to the 2022 draft, so there's some interest there.

  11. At this time very doubtful that any major changes are going to give us any significant improvement in offensive scoring it's going to be a long road to get us to be a playoff contender any time soon.

  12. I'd trade a Harris or Norlinder and maybe a 3rd at most…I see Kakko as a 3rd line guy with some offensive upset and manye a good winger to play on the 3rd line and penalty kill.

  13. If you need to slot Sean Monahan as your 2nd line centre for a playoff run then your team ain’t going anywhere.

  14. Kaapo Kakko is an interesting player. The problem is only his skating. He is a product of frozen ponds, he can hang on the puck, and stickhandle in a phonebooth, he is quite good in the corners and with proper center feeding him the puck to the backdoor, he could score. Roope HIntz had similar problems, but he understood, that he must get the proper glide in his skating. Kakko must learn that and learn to play two way hockey, but he likes too much to fake the pants of you in the phonebooth. Kakko could not understand why Jack Hughes was drafted ahead of him. If he would understand that, he could be better player than Jack Hughes, because he got the size advantage.

  15. "Kent says he wants to make another Dach/Newhook type trade". Oh, great!! That's what we need!! A team full of injury-prone players. Go HUGO! 🙄
