This is so damn sad

We need to talk about the most recent update of Filip Chytil, who has now suffered a set back after his fourth concussion. We’ll break down the news from the New York Rangers player on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. Hate to see it. Rangers been having a great season. Don't wanna see my team move up in the standings because New York loses a player. Philly already lost Hart due to the scandal. Carolina can hopefully get some wins together. Need a deep playoff run.

  2. He got Lindrosed, career shortened greatly by repeated concussions. But that's what "real" hockey fans want, it's a big men's game and all, fighting and hard hits only etc. Keep your head up, boy, is what they say to players like Chytil.

  3. Since I heard about the re-injury last week I’ve been readying myself to hear he’s going to have to step away from hockey completely. As much as I miss him on the team and as much as I’d love to see him back next year at 100%, I also want him to be ok as a person, particularly as a person who is 24 and has his whole life ahead of him. Four (and does this make five?) concussions is bad enough, and with the possibility that somewhere around the league some goon is probably already rubbing his hands together thinking about targeting Fil when he comes back, part of me says his health is so much more important and hopes he won’t even risk it. This just sucks.

  4. Hopefully he talks to the same doctors that Sid talked to when he had concussion problems. A lot of people were saying his career might be over but look at him now 10 years later.

  5. From a Flyers fan: feeling sad for the kid, I really hope he'll be able to come back. Most important thing is to do what's best for himself and he'll have some big decisions to make. All the best to him, sad story😢

  6. Can’t imagine being at that level and not being able to play but CTE is a real issue and his long term health should be more important than anything. His family, in the long run, will appreciate it

  7. this is so sad, hes a great player. at least he sent out a message thay says he'll be back and better than ever. so much potential for this kid.

  8. The kid has a fragile brain, that bump with Fast shouldn't have concussed him, or really anyone. I hope he makes the smart move and retires. He's got the money from this contract to just settle down and enjoy his life. It's just not worth the risk. And I was a big fan of his too, I think he was ready to be a point per game player during his prime years .

  9. Reminds me of what happened with Andrew Shaw. So much potential and skill, and the amount of concussions he got, and having to retire after only 8 years of playing professional hockey

  10. There was a similar situation with Stephen Johns in Dallas. Loved that guy and it was hard to have to see him leave bc of the concussions. He had post concussion syndrome and that is a career killer in contact sports. Hopefully it isnt the same with Chytil.

  11. If I were the rangers I would definitely try to trade for monahan ya sure he’s had major injuries in the past but you’ll only be getting him for the test of the year on a amazing contract

  12. This is very sad. Young kid with a potentially great future in the sport who was super entertaining to watch on the Kid line. I'm not a Rangers fan by any means, but I liked watching them play and it always sucks to see such a young kid's career being derailed like this. Hope he comes back better than ever.

  13. It's not just him!! This is damaging across the NHL. My Islanders just lost Pelech, again, due to 4th or 5th concussion. More needs to be done about how players check and the discipline that follows! Talented players are being wasted by goons that have little to no talent!!

  14. Concussions are no joke.

If you're not familiar, please see Concussion, the movie. After watching, remember that the NFL had scenes cut from the movie.

    I've had many.

  15. He wasn’t really progressing. The kid line the past 2 seasons was a mistake. They needed to be split and play with vets like Laffy and Kakko are now. Them all being together held them back. Chytil is most likely done.
