When in the playoffs Max earned the name Casperetty. The Habs are much better off without him
Vegas also struggled to score in 2018 against the kings, the kings just struggled to score more than them
The 13-14 Habs were absolutely cup contenders. They took the Rangers to six games after losing their starting goalie. If Price doesn't get hurt I believe they could have beat the Rangers, but that's a "what if".
I've been saying it for nearly 10 years, and I hate the habs, but Chara went out there to hurt Max. I, as an unlicensed hockey lawyer, could break Chara on the stand based on the video evidence and Chara actual comments about the incident.
vegas fans loved the patches trade. we didn’t need a young prospect in suzuki, we were seen as contenders and tatar just didn’t fit with our team. good character guy and great in the locker room and if he can give i 30 goals, we see that as a win
Pacioretty back to MTL
Don’t take out the fact that both teams got their players Montreal got a young gun and a quality player. Vegas got their goal scorer so I think it’s a win win trade. This season Paciorety was on pase of having the best year of his career of 80 plus points.
Streaky scorer, afraid to go near the boards, never finishing body checks, no forecheck, ok backcheck, not an amazing skater, no a good passer, not a good leader…
He can shoot the puck (but not on powerplay) and play penalty killing …
Has always been overrated…even with Montreal he was overrated and has become more so since his last few seasons with the Habs and in Vegas

Suzuki has had one year where he had 41 points in 71 games. Only 13 goals and a -14 and everyone is acting like he’s the next Brayden point. Patches had a fantastic year and he gives 100% every shift. Vegas gave up a lot but patches has been just what we need

Habs fan here. Max Pacioretty is a fine player. Having said that, he just didn't come through and elevate his game when it mattered most. It was Gallagher, Byron, even Radulov (in only 1 season mind you) who stepped up and dug deep to take this team higher and farther. Max didn't have it in him despite what the numbers would indicate. Being captain only made it harder. He wasn't the right fit for the C. He's great in a supporting role, but not to be "the guy."
I’m not sure about their cap space but he would be a great fit in Dallas.

can you do a video on players that perform well when not "the guy" to carry the team?
examples would include Phil Kessel or even Taylor Hall. as the super stars, they kinda flub under pressure. when there are superstars around them, they seem to perform better
I have to say.. Gionta was a better "captain". Pacioretty never seemed to want that responsibility on the Habs which made him a worse captain. Patches was at his best when he could go out there and have Desharnais pass him the puck. I hope he finds a good team and thrives in his new environment.

95% of Montreal fans forget that Max NEVER had a true #1 center to give him the puck. Imagine if he had 1. I never been Max biggest fan but if he had a real center, he could have score 50+ goals. Hes a sniper!
Habs fan are stupid, don’t get me wrong I loved the trade and it was fair, but the complain…he was our best player for like 6-7 years and our only « star ». 1 pt in 6 playoffs game in 2017 fine okay, the rangers had literally one player to cover and it was him
