A game commentator was rooting for Pens so hard 🙂 He did not even admit the interference before the ref called it. As for "educated" watchers, it actually was kind of dangerous. Happened away from the puck; with Letang's experience, he was well aware that Barkov is not expecting and that boards are dangerously close by. So, a push is enough to injure the player. It was not a 5 minutes penalty. However, it was a dirty play, just softly served. I hope that he gets a 1 game suspension. As well, he deserved all the retaliations.
As a pens fan, if they played with this kinda grit more often maybe they wouldn’t be struggling so hard. Barkov lost his edge. Letang didn’t touch him hard at all.
I mean although Barkov fell pretty easily.. He wasn't expecting it cause that would be an interference call, he was obviously just skating up the ice trying to get into the play. Like people are just stupid coming to your own conclusions. I know I'm probably gunna get flack for this but cmon people are you on meth or coke? Like its BARKOV the guy whose in contention for the Lady Bing trophy. If Bergeron was still on the bruins and this happened, I would assume they would do the same thing. And OBVIOUSLY, the skaters on the ice didn't really notice how Barkov fell, All they saw was him going down outside of the play into the boards. Like really people?
Barkov was the one interfering on that play. Letang was going for a check on the man with the puck and Barkov cut between them to interfere with Letang. And Letang peeled off and didn't even deliver a hit. Barkov just fell when they barely bumped into each other.
This kind of situation is exactly why hockey is so stupid much of the time. Nothing even happened but the other team has to "stick up for their guy" so they spend the rest of the game intentionally trying to injure a guy.
I'm a Panthers fan and the call on Letang on Barkov wasn't right, I believe Barkov lost his balance aswell but there is many factors in believing why this could of happen, like the announcer said maybe Barkov thought the play was dead because of the trip that happen before.
So are we going to ignore that the refs gaves pens 8 power plays to score and turn this back to a hockey game? Panthers were probably upset that Letang was laughing when barkov got injured.
Of course when you have as important guy like Barkov on your team, his teammates protects him. It's hockey, im not saying this was a dirty, its physical sport.
