Hijacking my own comment: Briere and Jones aren’t stupid, they know this speculation is happening. Briere speaks to the media at 11am. If there is a way to to stop this speculation, then he’ll do so. If he gives an evasive answer, it is going to look really bad.

I have a few friends in the league, from what I’ve heard that dates back to the summer skates is they’ll get 40 games each and whatever law enforcement decides. Hart was one of the guys brought up. Maybe it’s bullshit but it seems like an open secret in the hockey community.

Playing devils advocate here – What if he’s found not guilty?
I’ve read that the victim had given conflicting statements – (which happens frequently after a traumatic experience). We could be in a situation where the court of public opinion finds him guilty, but the courts say not guilty. (Duke lacrosse case comes to mind)
My 13 year old nephew is a *really* good and dedicated young goaltender, with a potentially very bright future ahead of him.

There’s a Sporting News article out that has a list of players who have come out with statements (either personal or through agents) saying that “they were not involved in the allegations.” Carter Hart is on that list. But I don’t remember there ever being a statement from him?
