[Lance Lysowski] Casey Mittelstadt was surprised to hear his name in trade speculation on NHL Network. The Sabres haven’t approached the pending RFA about an extension, but his preference is to stay in Buffalo. “I love being here,” he said during our chat this morning.

It’s neither weird nor outrageous Casey hasn’t been approached about an extension. He will be an RFA after this season is (mercifully) over and the Sabres will have his rights for two more seasons. There is plenty of time to work out an extension. Plus I don’t think Casey is going to try and bleed the Sabres dry for every last cent he can get

    >“There’s really not been any communication,” he continued. “I think Kevyn knows I want to be here. I pretty much bleed Sabres colors and being with this team. My loyalty is to the guys in this room. That’s about all I’ve got right now. I love being here. I love playing here. I love the guys in this room. They’re my brothers.”

They just need to give him a fair offer.

Well this is the NHL Network if you show a modicum of talent and play in Buffalo your name is automatically on the trade bait board. Pretty sure they have said like half the roster at one point and not in the tank for McDavid

    what’s fair for Casey?

Do we pay him 7-8 million?

Who wouldn’t like a workplace that has zero expectations!

Look, the Sabres are terrible and changes need to be made. Mitts is a good player but we have a ton of money locked up Cozens, Thompson, Dahlin, Skinner, Power, etc. Can’t keep everyone
