[Lance Lysowski] Casey Mittelstadt was surprised to hear his name in trade speculation on NHL Network. The Sabres haven’t approached the pending RFA about an extension, but his preference is to stay in Buffalo. “I love being here,” he said during our chat this morning.

It’s neither weird nor outrageous Casey hasn’t been approached about an extension. He will be an RFA after this season is (mercifully) over and the Sabres will have his rights for two more seasons. There is plenty of time to work out an extension. Plus I don’t think Casey is going to try and bleed the Sabres dry for every last cent he can get

Look, the Sabres are terrible and changes need to be made. Mitts is a good player but we have a ton of money locked up Cozens, Thompson, Dahlin, Skinner, Power, etc. Can’t keep everyone
