What do you know dowd + Ovi doesn’t work crazy
The Caps are old and tired. They have no real threats on offense anymore. This allows teams to basically defend Ovechkin every second of every shift.
They win games when they skate. The problem is that the team doesnt skate every game. It’s painfully obvious because you end up with scores like this one. They get out worked and its not even close.
They’re in a tough position. An aging team that can’t rebuild because of the respect factor for Ovechkin. My opinion is that if Ovi doesnt step it up and figure something else out, what the hell are we doing all this for?
I’d take 2 years out of the playoffs to watch Ovi break the record, but what I won’t do is watch upper management float us along this stream of mediocrity. Carberry has been dealt arguably the toughest job as an NHL head coach. Trying to continue keeping the Caps competitive by simply preventing goals. Unfortunately, we have Darcy Overpaid Kuemper taking half of the games. That signing was a complete bust and Colorado was glad to see him go. He was their ONLY liability on their cup run.
THe team is not built to win. They’re build to hang in there until the other team decides to start skating. They’ll get beat to a pulp if they make the playoffs.
If you’re not going to be an offensively heavy team, you’ve got to create a heavy checking team. They are neither of these things. They’re a confused bunch of guys, half of which are considering retirement, and the other half don’t have enough NHL ice time to wave a stick at.
Side note: Buy Kuznetsovs contract out and get rid of that steaming pile of dog shit. I couldn’t stand him 6 years ago and I definitely can’t stand him now. What a waste of talent, and more importantly a top 6 roster spot.
Nothing is going to change until the Caps start shedding dead weight
