Whats up with no highlights form any games from last night
If the devils weren’t contractually obligated to give up the first goal, VV would’ve had a shut out.
Really happy for him. Love the guy.
Man we got the full Vitek experience last night.
First shot on goal goes right in, goes behind the net and just trips over himself as he scrambles to get back causing everyone to melt down, and then he settles in and puts on a full clinic.
Though it ultimately didn’t feel like a particularly strong showing, it had a lot of things I was hoping to see. Thrilled with how strong Marino and Nemec rebounded from last game. I’m elated any time Vanecek can earn a win. Any bit of consistency from him would go such a long way. A goal from Nico, signs of offensive life from guys like Bahl and Bastien. And of course Holtz, continuing to rise to the occasion when challenged by Lindy. I hope to see him in the top 6 too, but I’m thrilled with what he’s been able to do semi-consistently with bottom 6 linemates this year.
Lots of things to feel good about. Some things still to worry about (power play woes, ability to score when the opposing goalie is looking more competent, that kind of thing). But we needed a low-stress win and we got it. Can’t ask for more, and now it’s on to finally, *finally*, figuring out how the fuck to play the second legs of back to backs. They’ll do it for Brylin, I’m sure of it. LGD.
Admittedly, I wasn’t able to catch the full game, but VV didn’t look that good. There are games where he looks really solid, but gets beat by a few great shots, or has one or two plays where the other team scores, this seemed like the opposite. He was ending up way off to the side of the goal, or struggling to find or cover the puck after making the initial save. Results matter, though, and he kept every shot after the first one out of the net, and it’s games like that that are needed.
