After tonight’s display I agree we need Quick in the net more. Igor is solid when he’s solid, but when he’s not he collapses.
Saw this on [twitter](https://x.com/shanebullen/status/1748189946534371335?s=46&t=-hZUwAjWy9snCiM0-qJX-g), but posting here because it’s wildly concerning.
13 of our 16 losses (81%) our opposition has scored 2 goals within 4 mins.
9 of our 16 losses (56%) our opposition has scored 2 goals within 2 mins.
18 of our 44 overall games (41%) our opposition has scored 2 goals within 4 mins.
Something’s gotta change because no way are we winning the cup, or making it far when almost every other game we give up 2 rapid fire goals
My feeling is that we over performed early in the season due to our schedule and some weirdly good goaltending from quick. We’re not as bad as we’re playing now and a large part of our issues are mental. If those get fixed we’re probably a middle of the pack to low middle of the pack playoff team like a 4-6 seed in the conference.
3 wins in 2024 bummin me out
Our lack of scoring from the bottom 6 has worn out our top 6. Not only are they playing way too much – all of them except Kakko near 20 minutes or more tonight – the opposition only has to focus on them to shut us down.
Something needs to change fast.
Should’ve turned it off after yet another instance of us giving up multiple goals in less than a minute of each other.
Came into road-trip thinking we needed three out of four to keep setting pace atop metro. Division is tightening up, and we’re trending in the wrong direction. Need a big turnaround in our back-to-back this weekend or we’ll be in an uncomfortable spot heading back home.
Bad
Vali is roasting this team right now and deservedly so.

This team was awake for the first 10 minutes of play. Everyone looked alive, and then it’s like Shang Tsung just sucked the souls out of everyone. Playing against a Vegas team missing their best players. Shesty not playing up to par and this team just going on auto pilot. My kingdom for some goddamn consistency. Please.
See you Saturday.
This team has a mentality issue, including Igor.
I hate them right now.
Only 3 more games (and 2 10:30 EST starts) left on this road trip!
Can someone seriously tell me what happened to all the great defense we were playing early in the year, I’ll admit I’m a relatively new hockey fan and I just don’t understand how we went from shutting teams down every night to giving up A+ rush chances like clockwork
Hearing the players say they had “good looks” after a shit loss is giving me AV ptsd
Something I’ve noticed during this mediocre stretch is this team REELS when falling behind. They lose all focus and composure and it opens the floodgates and we don’t recovery. Definitely some mental struggles going on.
It also has to be demoralizing to play that well for the first 10 minutes and end the period down 0-2. Team needs a big wake up call of some sort.
Legitimately went from envisioning what deadline add we need to make to put us over the top to make the ECF and maybe mess around and win a cup to questioning if we’d beat a pesky wild card team in the first round in the span of a month.
A slump stops being a slump after some period of time; up for you to decide when that is.
I wonder if it’s the tendies giving up softies that kills momentum , seemed to happen tonight
A certain veteran power forward needs to show emotion. Throw some big hits, drop the gloves. Rally the guys behind you even though you didn’t get the “C” on your jersey.
This is a chemistry issue. Losing Fil, Kakko, and Fox made us a different team and we found ourselves somehow and prob got a bit lucky. Now that the injured players are returning, our DNA is scrambled again. We need to re-discover our identity.
Our trouble of getting our first pass out of the zone is really apparent right now.
It does not look like anyone besides Kakko wants to shoot the puck right now.
Igor has been missing saves we’ve seen him made in years past.
Our special teams, especially our PK, have been horrible recently.
We need to play for 60 minutes, not 5 to 10 minute bursts.
When we play teams that clog the neutral zone we just need to go dump and forecheck not force bad passes at the blue line which has led to turnovers.(This goes back to what killed us vs the Devils last year)
We need to get back to forechecking. Recently, it’s been completely invisible.
I’m starting to believe this theory about players playing poor after having a baby. Mika isn’t the same. Igor isn’t the same. Trouba is next. Bread defies this trend though.
Brett howden turning out to be the most tangible and impactful piece in return for god damn prime Ryan McDonough AND JT Miller…
… sucking absolute, unmitigated ass for 3 years as a ranger…
… and immediately becoming an unheralded but incredibly reliable penalty killing 3C on a Stanley cup champion is just PEAK Rangers^TM
Would the Rangers be the Dallas Cowboys of Hockey if the Leafs didn’t exist?
Kakko and Laf were the only good offensive players tonight, at least in the 1st. CK and Mika were invisible 5v5 the entire game, per usual. Defense was awful, Miller and Schneider have been just awful for multiple weeks now. And Igor is just having a miserable season compared to his norm. They’ve been a .500 team for almost 7 weeks now.
This team is just not good. First 20 games a fluke. Most certainly not winning the cup. Probably land in a wild card spot
Almost every goalie is Hasek Against the Rangers now, + Swissterkin not being too good most games
Who was saying the other day we don’t need to make deadline moves because Kakko is back? I have words for you.
Everybody forgets, when we were good two years ago, it was because Igor was great. Not the team, it was Igor! Now Igor is mediocre and so are we. If your goaltending isn’t great, every flaw on your team will show!
still can’t get over how out of that entire game, ppl in the GDT had the audacity to be upset about pulling the goalie. like why the hell not, it was embarrassing already. at least get some special teams reps in. 5-1 vs 4-1, who cares bc I bet the team doesn’t.
I can’t remember and can’t easily find it, but when was the last time we came back from a two goal deficit and won?
Prediction for Saturday? Kings at 10th loss out of last 11 games. Went to the Hurricanes slaughter at the Garden. Heading to Crypto for Saturdays game and hoping for a better outcome.
3rd and 4th line are pretty bad
I shouldn’t be surprised or frustrated by this outcome, this is actually very common for a very mediocre hockey team
