  1. That is so true DK. As a European guy I visited the States and Canada a handfull of times. In 2019 we went for the roadtrip NY, Washington, Pittsburgh and Niagara. Pittsburgh was on the route because I wanted to see a Pens game in the arena once in my life. If I wasn't around my girlfriend would hardly know about the city. So, we spend some days in NY, took our pictures from the white house, and then drove to Pittsburgh, right up to Mt Washington. That view was…spectacular! It's the combination of city and nature: the hills, the viewing point, the bridges, the shape of the river, etc. That's just unique. Also driving over a bridge in and out the hart of the city, with all its different views, is a really cool experience. While the game turned out to be the 4th loss in the Islanders-series, the beauty of the city and the people were such a pleasant surprise. It exeeded expactations by a mile, especially for my girlfriend. We would love to come back some day.

  2. Homesick in Tbilisi Georgia after today’s daily shot. Vancouver, sure, But please no envy of NYers or Bostonians (the people or the shoes) who talk of being into sportscentric major league cities.
There were 2 kinds of houses in Altoona in the Autumn Sunday afternoons of my youth, when the boys had better be outside, provided a football and everything. Houses you’d hear them shouting “run the ball” at the tv, and houses they were muttering “run the ball”, inaudible to the kids outside.
Our strength lies in the grandmothers who watch, discuss lineplay, and tolerate shrines in their homes, and in the kids playing outside (not kids watching tv with the superstitious menfolk).

  3. Can't dictate the pace of a game by playing defense first. Can't start a game with a defensive mind at the outset and thinking that's going to dictate pace of the game. Detroit was successful because they attacked and defended as a five-man. Unit. Penguins are fine. They basically own the league five on five. But their power play is one of the worst. Look at the goals. For goals against and where the teams ahead of the penguins are.
