Rumors are starting to swirl that rather than trade pending UFA defenseman Nick Seeler before the March 8 trade deadline, the Flyers may instead try to re-sign him. Would that be the right move? Bill and Charlie discuss.

“Sell, sell, sell!” It’s a rebuild. If Briere doesn’t move Seeler then it’s not a rebuild and we’ve been lied to.
It’s back to Fletchernomics if Seeler is on the team after the deadline. Same for Walker. Both MUST be moved.
On the third pair very good a true Warrior, and can drop the gloves if we need 🏒🤔
I would have said no w rebuild but w speed things are going he is more then a glue guy. He’s the heart of the D and is young enough to stick around and age well. He’s a guy you need in thr playoffs
The team loves him and this locker room is so tight that you lose certain guys for
Future and you lose what makes this team tight. And special
You have to see what you have in Andrae, Attard & Ginning, etc first. Bonk is a couple years away. If they’re ready then sure trade seeler if not sign him to a 1-2 year deal. The addition of Drysdale makes Walker expendable so I’d definitely trade Walker instead. Just because it’s a rebuild does not mean you should have a fire sale. Stupid “tank” crowd. Dumb way of thinking.
How about we reward this current roster by letting them play together and see where they can take this . I get all the contract hurdles , etc , but we might already have something special !
I don't see D core of Sanheim, Drysdale, Zamula, York, Bonk, Walker, and Andre as a cup winning D core either. Too small and not there are not enough minutes for that many puck moving offensive minded D-men to go around. You need at least one physical shot blocking veteran defensemen who can thrive in 12 – 14 minutes per night and kill penalties and 1.5 – 2 mill cap hit is about right for that role. Moving Risto and Walker is the right move as 5+ million is an overpay for a 5/6 guy. Bonk is right handed decent size and 6ft 2in and can fill in for Walker in the top 4 in the future. Walker and RIsto are the most replaceable work out best for the cap. I would keep Seeler on a cap friendly deal if I can move Risto. Walker is most likely out either way.
Trade Seeler for Risto and future considerations, waive Risto, when he gets claimed by Buffalo, trade the future considerations back to Seeler for a lower cap hit, cut seeler, trade for Risto, then sign Seeler to a two-way deal. Then trade Ristolainen in the off-season for a Seeler-type
If they do sign Seeler it should only be for 1-2 year's. Nothing more
What is wrong with these guys. Of course you want to keep Nick Seeler. He is physical and has done everything asked of him.
I totally disagree. You always need a physical defenseman. No problem with extending him for a couple of years. These other young guys are a couple years away.
You still need at least one physical defenseman who can fight. Especially if you get into playoffs. Also, you never know when someone will be injured.
tough decisions looming for Briere & Co. but they can handle it. I think they will try to trade Seeler, but doubt he brings much back in return. The odds are so long against getting a future NHLer after say the third round that Seeler may be worth holding on to until the end of the season and then see if a reasonable contract is possible. Otherwise let him go.
Ronnie Attard is emerging and ready for the NHL next year. They need to move on from Seeler and Walker. Andrae and Bonk too in the pipeline.
No. Utterly zero reason to prioritize him over Attard, Zamula, Andrae, Samson, Bonk … why waste time with a 30-year old 3rd pairing D? Sell now while he has any value.

With the way you guys are talking about Seeler and the rest of the defensive core + young prospects, do you think Walker is definitely being moved?
