this is the best management group this organization has ever had and i have been watching this team since 1970. i was a doubter as well and was ripping them at every turn. alvin hasn't made a bad move yet.
Luck comes in to play too. Who could have predicted the misfit line of Garland Joshua Blueger would be lighting it up. It's ridiculous.

Honestly ….I don't care the way Rutherford handled Bruce Boudreau was terrible he should have resigned….the way he handle it was wrong and to me I will never forget it..

Cores are always made better with the addition of complimentary pieces. It takes management with vision to find those parts.

Rutherford knew the talented core is there in the Canucks. That was why he took the job. He was not here to do a rebuild. Rutherford knew by bringing in the right pieces in the management and coaching staff and of course bringing in structure ineverthing, along with the right pieces into the team, winning would eventually take place. Rutherford is a master and has been doing this all his life in Carolina and Pittsburg. You gotta give some credit this time around to owner Aquilini for identifying Rutherford and went to Rutherford's house to hire him as the President giving him total control of hockey operation. Of course, Rutherford was probably ensured of this before he accepted this challenging position in a most challenging hockey market in Vancouver!
I always thought our core were underachievers. I look at Makar and other top D, they're paired with top 4 D. Hughes never had a top 4 D to play with since his rookie year. I always knew the real Hughes would emerge if he had a decent D to play with. We didn't know or could even phantom just how incompetent Benning was as a GM.
It's like interior designers when looking at a dump of a house. They have the talent and vision that most people don't have to turn that dump into a beautiful home. That's why they get paid the big bucks and we don't. Same as hockey, there are visionaries and then there are arm chair quarterback shlubs like us.
